After going without heating at all in the 2 coldest weeks of the year, Ā I’m not bothered if it never goes on at all. We both felt much better for it, Ā could breath better, Ā not stuffy and certainly slept better, Ā we’ve never had heating on in the bedroom anyway but just it being on around the rest of the place made it warmer.Ā
I think our winter bill will be even cheaper than usual.

I’ve never liked beer, but a few years ago, someone gave me glass of Coors and I really loved it! Used to treat myself to a pack of four cans every now and then. Waitrose then discontinued it, so I’ve been picking up a pack on our occasional trips to Sainsbury’s. Popped in there yesterday for OH’s favourite own brand cereal, but no Coors in the beer aisle. I asked one of the assistant staff if they had moved them, she checked for me, and they have discontinued it too. How tiresome. Not as if that’ll reduce my alcohol consumption much, I’ll probably open a bottle of wine instead, and then drink it over the next three or four days.Ā

Gracious me that’s big … the A140 is the main road between Ipswich and Norwich and very little of it is dualled. It goes right through the middle of small villages and market towns with Tudor buildings fronting right onto a narrow roadĀ with some tight corners roundabouts and a few quite steep inclines … and lots of remarkable large oaks.Ā

This Ā may well prove to be an ā€˜interesting’ operation and I fully expect there to be a lot of curmudgeonliness about! šŸ™„

How does the temporary bridge work? I don't think I'd fancy being under it.Ā

  • The fact that the underpasses under the Civic Drive roundabout are being closed is concerning!!! I presume it’s in case they collapse. That’s just up the road from @WonkyWomble !!! That’s her route to the shops! Ā And where the heck is it going after that … along Norwich Road???! That’s parallel to her street and is a narrow shopping street full of diverse ethnic shops cafes and restaurants, musical instrument
emporia etc etc etc. .., and passes under a quite low and jarrow railway bridge!!! I may be misjudging them but it looks to me as if someone has looked at a map rather than surveyed the route … I do hope I’m wrong 😱

  • I suspect the bridge is to span a dip between two hills  … there’s a little bridge over a stream at the bottom of it. There was a lot of roadwork there earlier in the year reinforcing the edges of the road and slightly straightening a bend.Ā

Oh that kind of bridgeĀ  Ā - to stop it grounding I suppose.Ā
    I had visions of a flyoveršŸ™„
Lets hope they don't build underpasses out of crumbly concrete.

  • They probably did just that B3 … the multi-storey carpark built at the same time has had two major lots of remedial work done as it was crumbling … rotting concrete due to ā€˜the wrong sort of sand’ apparently …

Seems they went to an awful lot of trouble.Ā  Maybe it was a job creation scheme like the building of stone walls
