My wife is reading a book by Robert Verkaik, called Posh Boys  (How English public schools RUIN  Britain).
It highlights how they are brought up with the sense of entitlement and how they feel they have the right to rule, among many other things.
The author is an ex public schoolboy BTW. It's interesting but not good for the Blood pressure!

I mentioned before that I'd worked out that I was being charged £10 a month too much for my energy bills based on the credit I'd racked up. I emailed the supplier who did their own calculations and advised that they're increasing my direct debit by £12 based on my usage over the last year even though I'm massively in credit and not using the amount they're charging each month. :/  They're basing this on current prices and assuming that the government payments will stop soon I imagine.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

In other annoying news the council cleared up some of the fly-tipping I reported but still don't seem to want to cut back brambles to get at the rest. They also split the bags that they removed and left lots of rubbish behind. And the tipper has been back since they removed it so it's back to square one again.

My energy supplier increased our standing order too. 2 weeks ago they said they were increasing it by £6 then they actually increased it by £15. All the while we are hundreds in credit. You are supposed to be able to alter your direct debit online but I soon found that the only option was to increase it, not decrease it!

I caught the end of a report on Radio 4 where they were summarising the state of a country. It was something along the lines of... this country will never improve while it's run by elderly men pushing extreme religious views, suppressing women's rights, using police brutality for control and rampant corruption etc. The sad part was I couldn't tell if they were talking about Afghanistan or the USA :#

I was initially shocked to discover the police officers involved in the latest case in the USA were all black themselves.  That would seem to indicate that a prerequisite to be a police officer over there is an extreme over reaction to anybody not immediately complying with their orders.  There are clearly bad apples in our police force, but I know which one I would rather deal with.

Name and shame them @wild edges and @steephill, and if you use Facebook, message them directly. I've had recent problems with Octopus and I've told them straight out I'm not amused with what's happened, and that I may consider going elsewhere [not much of a threat, but...]
The 2nd problem re the d. debit not being taken on 5th Jan bothers me more than the other one. I eventually emailed them back yesterday and said I would make a manual payment, but asked what would have happened if I hadn't noticed their error. I wonder what the reply will be - more back pedalling I expect.
I may also have said I have concerns about their [mis] management.
    That'll go down well  :D

Same. It's noticeable though that similar crimes involving white cops don't tend to move so quickly in providing the evidence and convicting the police. There's usually a lot more malfunctioning body cameras and missing evidence which drags on for months. These guys were dealt with extremely quickly while the white officers involved were left on duty.

I had to pop to the local shop this evening and when I got there the car park was surprisingly full so I had to park in the darkest corner furthest from the entrance. I just locked the car when a big bloke rounds the corner and starts striding purposefully towards me. I squared up, put on my hardest face and prepared to show him why I will hereby be known as the Welsh Usain Bolt. As he approached he said "Don't mind me, babe. I've been driving for two hours and I'm busting for a slash." then whipped it out and started hosing down the corner of the loading bay. I left him to it :#

Was it a lorry driver? A lack of facilities for lorry drivers, plus their tight schedules, make their lives very difficult. Have you seen the plastic milk bottles of orange liquid that litter the roadsides and motorways … they’re not full of orange squash. The holes in the bottles are just the right size for them to use whilst driving … apparently!!! 😱
