Is it because he's rich or because he's prime minister or is he just really, really special?

    What's that @KT53 ?

You have to get a new licence every 3 years from age 70.  I'm 73 next year. :D
Is that new then?  I had my previous license for many years,  just renewed now,  didn’t have one at 70 or 73.

Photo licences had to be renewed every 10 years and everybody has to confirm they are fit to drive at age 70.  After 70 it has to be done every 3 years.  If you live in the UK, have a photo licence, and haven't been doing that you are probably driving illegally!

It did seem like an especially brutal episode. :#

It wasn't 'especially' brutal in my opinion.  It was showing nature as it really is.  Nature is always brutal, survival of the fittest.  Do people think Orca go to the supermarket to buy seal steaks?

I’m grumpy about the Oscars being the main news story this morning. I can’t give a fig about the doings of overpaid, unctuous painted mimes.

The producers still have to decide what they film and how they present it for the documentary. In this case they filled the whole episode with dramatic kills and animals having to fight to survive. You watch a documentary like 'The Hunt' and you expect scenes like that but I imagine there were some people who tuned in for a showcase of British Wildlife and were turned off by what was shown. I'm not saying it's wrong or this should be avoided in documentaries though. I suspect there are reasons why they choose this type of action and the social media style #teampuffin will no doubt be one of them. A bit of controversy in the first episode always helps raise the program's profile. I was expecting them to be a bit tentative with the message about how much trouble our wildlife is in too but it was tackled really well without too much finger pointing.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I wish that weather forecasters could come up with a description somewhere between 'a bit blustery' and 'so bloody windy that stuff is going to get damaged'. We're not covered by the weather warning but part of the school is closed off due to tiles being ripped off the roof. They didn't even issue the weather warning until 10am this morning and we've had strong gusts all night. Now the M4 has solid traffic as they had to shut the bridge unexpectedly.

  • Now if IKEA was in Croyden, and you live in Salisbury, then allowing for a break for lunch, I'd say that's good going!
