I haven't been posting on this thread recently, but I occasionally look. I've had some messages from Catherine Mansley and Lily regarding this person @WAMS. I also informed Lily about a situation that recently arose because a fairly new poster contacted myself and another forum member about this person. We were able to reassure her and encouraged her, and the others affected on a particular thread, to keep reporting the person. It had reached a stage where she was considering stopping posting. They have messaged the person in question, but they've also said that they'll take it further if necessary.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you... at least they know. I hope @Catherine Mansley will address it.
Sorry to have fed the troll by posting about it. Have refrained on every thread I have seen it sprinkling its sunshine on and will go back to ignoring it.
@WAMS I agree that ignoring the troll is the quickest way to get rid of them. Fortunately, or otherwise, I don't know who is being referred to and am happy to leave it that way.

Sadly it doesn’t quite work like that … it’s fine to ignore a troll if you are the one being targeted … but this particular troll targets new posters … if your first query on a forum was met with rudeness, unkindness and arrogance and no one else seemed to care, you’d probably never post on that forum again

That's true. I make regular use of TripAdvisor and the worst examples I've seen of that kind of treatment is on the Scotland Forum. Make a minor spelling mistake on a place name, mention $ instead of £ etc and there is normally a wolf pack of the same half dozen people laying into you. What makes it worse there is that a couple of the culprits are 'destination experts' who know they shouldn't be doing it.
Somebody asked if they could use English banknotes in Scotland. Instead of a simple 'Yes, the banknotes can be used in Scotland" the response was "Of course you can!!!". That will really encourage more posts from the question asker won't it.
