Given the BBC chairman is a substantial donor to the tory party, and " Helped facilitate " a huge loan to Bo jo the clown, they're hardly " impartial " now
Thanks folks for the comments on weedkillers. Just read the SBK box again (twice) and in very small print right at the bottom it says it contains triclopyr which I haven't heard off. If it doesn't do the job I'll see if I can hold of glyphosate. I find it annoying that the licence for that has been renewed for another 5 years but the GC's are not stocking it.
What a day I was up early after spending the night on the sofa (sick kids not angry wife) then decided to do some quick chores before hopefully sneaking out for some fresh air because I've been feeling cooped up this week. First job was unblocking two sinks. The first one was easy, if a little disgusting, and I was already starting on the second by 10am ready to be done and cleaned up before lunch. It was 5pm by the time I got it finished At one point I was up a ladder in driving sleet wondering why I didn't just call a plumber.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Oh dear @wild edges, what a bummer and a waste of a day. I don't suppose there's a plumber to be had either. No quite sure how you unblock a sink up a ladder though!

There's an external rodding eye where the pipe comes through the wall but after getting the ladders out and set up I found I couldn't access the blockage from that end anyway. I ended up having to go to Screwfix to buy a longer drain coil to try again from the sink end.

Just watched a quick snippet on BBC Breakfast where they spoke about losing coastal houses to the sea due to erosion. They showed a shed, with some contents, or something falling into the sea. Is it me? I despair. Why wasn't the thing demolished responsibly and its contents disposed of before the sea encroached?
Irrespective of whether they can afford to move or not, the house/property will fall into the sea won't it? They have no more money after it falls than before. To me - this should be a duty of care by a council - it's not unheard of (I listened to a radio broadcast this morning where a valley was flooded and the properties subject to compulsory purchase) to buy properties at risk - or at least pay for them to be cleared. We have the same issues down here with cliff erosion - but people having no money is no excuse for dumping a house's contents into the sea.
The stupidity down here is that the council have been allowing new property development in areas known to be at risk:
What do you think we East Anglians are? The stuff that falls over the cliffs will be cleared away … not left to pollute the sea … the way most cliff falls happen here is that the sandy cliffs slide down to form a bank at the base of the cliffs and any buildings slide down on top of them 🙄
Why is it that people who don’t live here think they know better than those who have been dealing with this problem for generations 🙄
Now that has made me really curmudgeonly 😖
