    What's that @KT53 ?

You have to get a new licence every 3 years from age 70.  I'm 73 next year. :D

that fact that it's just a form to get a new license makes me curmudgeonly.
We should be retested. Not just an assessment, the same driving test that a new driver would have to sit

@Hostafan1.  I've picked up so many bad habits in nearly 50 years of driving that I'd never pass a test now.  I've had one accident where I was at fault, and picked up one speeding ticket in that time.
According to statistics, 80% of fatal accidents involve drivers under the age on 25.  On that basis it's that group which should be retested on a regular basis.

I have to admit that I was shocked when I read that GPs and opticians aren't obliged to inform the DVLA when they believe somebody is unsafe to drive.

In nearly 50 years of driving I haven't had an accident that was my fault, but on 3 different occasions I've been hit from behind by young drivers while waiting at red traffic lights.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

why would any good driver fear being retested?
I'd sit a test tomorrow if needed.
I think everyone should be retested every ten years until the state decides they're old enough for a pension, then every 3 years

Is that new then?  I had my previous license for many years,  just renewed now,  didn’t have one at 70 or 73.

I wonder if there have been any studies of people's personalities based on who they root for in wildlife documentaries? Sea Eagle or goose? Owl or baby dormouse? Puffin or those thieving bastard gulls? It was very sad seeing all those seabird colonies knowing how badly they were hit last year  :(
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It did seem like an especially brutal episode. :#

Just watched a quick snippet on BBC Breakfast where they spoke about losing coastal houses to the sea due to erosion. They showed a shed, with some contents, or something falling into the sea. Is it me? I despair. Why wasn't the thing demolished responsibly and its contents disposed of before the sea encroached?
I've seen stories of graveyards eroding and bones found on the beach. There's been quite a few cases around the country. I went to a beach near here recently which has a caravan park on the cliffs and no one seems bothered if they lose bits to erosion. The beach below is littered with rubbish from up there.

I do not know how I did it but lost all of my (favourite) gardening bookmarks.
I just went to check what was going on here this evening and my whole "Garden" bit is lost.
Maybe good as I had far too many.
    Just darn it!

@KT53 I'll have to apply for 'Old Farts Licence' version 2 next year.
    @B3 What's that @KT53 ?

The one where they walk in front of you with a flag?
