I wasted my morning, trying to resolve a couple of outstanding issues,  still not getting proper bills from energy company.  I don't understand their difficulty,  I can work it out on paper easily enough, using all the data they show on my account,  anyway I am in a small credit so it's not a problem.
The other issue is I had to take a greenhouse fan heater back to a GC,  as the fan only function didn't work.  None of the other models in the shop worked either despite it being an advertised function.  They are still chasing the mfcrs no result yet.
Does anyone make anything properly anymore?
you bought it from the GC, THEY bought it from the manufacturer.
You contract is with the GC, NOT the manufacturer.

I should have said,  the GC have refunded me but I want a heater that has a fan only function for air circulation.  Many on the Web advertise this but they look like the one I bought,  so I  am hoping the GC will sort it, so I'm sure of getting what I want , without spending hundreds of pounds on a commercial grade  one.

The boiler repair man came. It wasn't leaking when he was here and he couldn't find anywhere that looked as if it had leaked recently :/ . We have to keep checking it and call if it leaks again. OH has put bits of paper towels around all the pipe joints nearby to try and find out if one of them is the problem.

Hosta, you are correct.so many shops etc use this as a cop out. We had our last House insulated via a grant from SEEBOARD hubby went up in the loft and checked, they hadn't lagged the pipes or tanks although we had been charged for them. Manager firstly swore blind they had been done, contacted SEEB who said it was absolutely nothing to do with them... although they had arranged these cowboys. Then the manager said they couldn't do the tanks they didn't have the correct size jackets. Presumably, didn't think we would go up and check. They had thousands of complaints, finally went bust. Same thing with Curry's when our expensive TV went wrong after 8 months.

So sorry to hear all these tales of woe. Really feels like you can’t trust anyone. We get rather fed up doing so much of our DIY ourselves, but then I hear of friends experiences with tradesmen who seem less capable than we are, and decide to carry on, despite being far too old for this!

The building industry in general is far too under-regulated. It's been a serious problem for many years and no one seems to want to tackle it.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

To be fair our boiler man seemed perfectly competent, it's just that when he opened the thing up he couldn't find where the leak had come from. A bit like @Hostafan1 's washer, I think it knows who's boss (and it's obviously not me).

Two potentially serious accidents today but I got away with it both times. My mum, a believer in the power of three, reckons I should hit something hard and slightly painful to break the spell. I'm not convinced but I'm wondering.
