We started having groceries delivered during this last two years. Using Waitrose, as that is our preferred shop anyway, and they have been very good. On time, text to advise when they are 15 minutes out, and very pleasant and helpful delivery people. I don’t usually get fresh stuff, just the boring heavy tins, jars, washing liquids etc, so don’t know what they are like on use by dates. However, I did order some cinnamon buns, and as they were due to be eaten the next day, they didn’t charge for them but brought them anyway to avoid disappointment!
I can't say what I think of T'sco on a public forum ... my family have to find a market for their produce ... suffice to say I try not to buy anything from T'sco.
I can well understand. An ex-brother in law used to grow lettuces and other salads for them, he was often left holding thousands of lettuces when the weather turned bad and T cancelled their contract right at the last minute.

Tesco and Sainsburys deliver stuff use by TODAY until 11pm and still charge you. With the odd exception like pre cut fruit, and soft fruit, If it's today's , or tomorrow's date with Waitrose , you're not charged.
I had chicken delivered from Sainsbury's dated that day, I told him I'd taken something else out of the freezer to cook. He said he'd take it back to store. " What time do you get back? " " 11.30pm" "What happens to the chicken?" " it'll go in a skip"
I try to avoid 'sco too - certainly never do a big shop with them, but we do have a T Metro on the corner of our road and I confess to picking up the odd thing there. I have a feeling the link may now be broken, but I started avoiding them when I first worked for Westminster City Council...

I think it very much depends on your local store or the depot your goods are coming from. I am afraid to have to say, we had a lot of issues with our W,rose deliveries, at one point we were getting so many refunds they must have been loosing money. My wife always said she would rather pay and they get it right than all the aggro sorting it out.
I've come down from climbing the ceiling now. My little world was sorely upset this morning by Tes&co. When considering that life must be absolute hell on earth for millions of people today, I feel such a mardy a**s*.
I'm giving Asda a spin with an early delivery tomorrow morning. So far so good, they appear to have plenty of slots.
Was surprised when checking out with my debit card, I was offered over £16 off my next purchase through 'cashback'. I find this whole concept a minefield, no doubt I'll be paying for hidden costs as there really is nothing as a free lunch.
Think they are all swings and roundabouts. Had a big row with our Waitrose, customer service desk, rude, head office useless, said I would never go in there again, and haven't Also had rudeness in Morrison, manager screamed at me on the middle of the store. He isn't there now Spent many years shopping at Lidl, then Aldi, now back to Lidl, because it's easier to get to and park. Agree about both Tesco and Morrisons short use by dates, but unless it's fresh chicken I ignore them.
I didn't have any choice if I wanted a delivery during lockdown, either Tesco or Morrisons. The latter was worse than Tesco but I was very grateful to have my order delivered. Now that I can shop I use Tesco for what I can't get at Aldi. I'm not a supermarket snob. However, one thing that's really b****y irritating me now when I shop in Tesco is that the people who put the orders up leave their trolleys all over the place causing trolley jams, sometimes 3 abreast, and if I try to negotiate around them they give me the beady eye as if it's my fault. I understand that they have a difficult job but why the heck don't they park in the middle of the aisle?
As I type I'm hanging on for customer services to suggest this. It took me 3.40 to listen to all options and how's your father, I was then asked if I would give feed back and please press one and they would ring me tomorrow. I was then transferred to deafening music and I've been on the phone for 11.52 secs and no answer.
Yes - some folk don't have options re where they shop - especially if they're more rural or don't have a car. Very easy to make sweeping statements about retailers too - it comes down to how individual stores are run and managed. If people heard/saw some of the sh*te staff put up with, maybe they'd be a little bit more understanding. I wouldn't use a phone for that @Uff. Always in writing
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I finally got through after 15.38 to a call centre in India! Hell's bells! He asked what I wanted and I told him I wouldn't speak to him, I wanted either the manager or customer services at the store. It's quite possible he saw the steam coming out of my ears so he transferred me on a private number to the store.
I spoke to the manager who told me the trolleys are supposed to be left at either end of the aisles and that staff are trained to do this and walk to the products. I assured him this wasn't the case this morning or last week. He told me he would speak to the person who does the training. Right, we'll see next week when I go in.
