@Plantminded gosh, that sounds terrible - bonfires really stink! Don't hang your washing out, or it will smell too!

When we first came to live here Wednesday was half day closing. Nothing like taking a trip into town only to remember too late that it’s Wednesday.😕
Now, where I grew up Thursday was half day closing (and market day). It took me a good few months to figure out the shops closed on Wednesdays because they used the wrong day.

@KT53 All the major Christian feasts are based on pagan festivals!  So much easier to convert people if you give them a reason to keep their fun and traditions, just slightly redirected.

Sympathy @Pianoplayer.  I hate the smell of tobacco smoke too.

BenCotto, am feeling all of my 300 years this morning, after 3 hours of broken sleep. Good Friday and Easter Monday ARE Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter Sunday are not, there is an official list, honest, I can screenshot it on my phone. When I wake up!!!!

I suppose because banks never open on a Sunday anyway, Easter Sunday couldn't be considered a bank holiday. 🤔

Here’s the official list of Bank Holidays https://www.gov.uk/bank-holidays Good Friday only became a Bank Holiday in 1971 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In Scotland it has been a Bank Holiday since 1871.

    You’re expecting logic from a religion??????! 🤯 😵‍💫 🤣

Of course not, but I would be interested to hear the logic they apply. :D

The logic is that in biblical times everyone used the lunar calendar ... this was superseded by the Julian and then the Gregorian calendars ...

Most of the smoke I smell coming from cars around here doesn't seem to be tobacco :# It certainly explains the quality of driving though.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
