I wish there was a dislike 👎 button you could use when someone makes a rude or unpleasant comment.  Particularly when it is made on a new member's first post.

First butterfly - a blue job  - nice . First bite mozzie or gnat. It didn't wait to introduce itself . Not nice.

Haven't seen the post/thread you refer to but can't see the Forum adopting a Dislike Button - there was enough controversy over introducing the Like Button :D

If it warrants it, could you not either quote the rude/unpleasant comment and add 1 or 2 of the Thumbs down emoji or directly address the villain with the same emoji ?

Butterflies picking up here too -  small Blue last week, Orange tip yesterday along with Cabbage White.  Tortoiseshell a couple of weeks back.  No mozzies here yet - bit too dry for them. Hope your bite settles down soon  :)

No. I don't want to escalate things. OP hasn't made any reference to the comment. I. Know what you mean about the like button. I was dubious about it at first but it's good to be able to show agreement or approval even if you don't have anything useful to say  @philippasmith2

Yes @B3 After I posted.  it did belatedly occur to me that a response could just invite further responses which is not what you are after.  If the OP didn't react, hopefully they either didn't take it seriously or just decided to ignore it. Often the best way and good for them  :)

The logic is that in biblical times everyone used the lunar calendar ... this was superseded by the Julian and then the Gregorian calendars ...

This explains the rest of it https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/48067272

That would make sense if Christmas bounced around in the way Easter does.  It the inconsistency which makes no sense, although that's really no different to the rest of religion.

If I had my way I'd take the 8 public holidays (English, anyway - I've a vague memory that Scotland has 2nd Jan as well) and have them as four long weekends, nearest weekends to the spring equinox, summer solstice, autumn equinox and winter solstice. Or even better, give everyone 8 extra days holiday to take whenever they like.
