I've not yet got the hang of photographing insects, because they move too quickly. Flowers are easier, because they stay put. Anyhow, a cricket landed on my leg whilst I was out for an evening picnic.
I've got a collection on some leaves now, they are quite funny how they all position themselves round the edge and then all stand up when they feel threatened. I'm reluctant to remove them, but they are also decimating the rose 😖
We took the kids to a local trail to ride their bikes last night and I found them this freshly emerged dragonfly by a stream. They're really into minibeasts at the moment and they don't come much less mini than this. It was bigger than their hands.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Found it resting on the French Beans.
2-spot ladybird, melanistic form. The darker form is more common in the North, the theory being that it allows greater heat-absorption.
Thank you.
