It's a stunning butterfly. I rarely get any at all.

I found this video interesting. Bunny mentions Miyawaki models of micro-forests which I hadn't heard of before. I guess mixed native hedging is a similar thought, but with micro forests you have high canopy. Good for small gardens and quick trees to grow. Intruiging.

  • Red mason bee, yay they're back (my pictures are always so huge  :D , not sure why)

Orange tip butterflies around the garden this week as well as more bumbles, mason bees, hoverflies and mining bees.
  • That's a tawny mining bee :)
I just added another moth to the garden list while putting the bins out. The Streamer.

Oh is it! That makes even more sense because I have a couple of small holes in the ground by my shed that have just reopened from last year.

Yeay - I just saw my first flutterby of the year - I think a holly blue.
We see so few here, despite lots of buddleia about. A few cabbage whites, a few holly blues and that's mostly it. We are much better off for moths.

The year has started well for me. Yesterday I had a Brimstone and today I had an Orange Tip, neither of which I see every year. I have also had Comma, Peacock, Small White and Tortoiseshell.
