After a beach clean up I dumped the rubbish in the boot of my car and afterwards found a few of these running about in there. I've only just found out that they're the rare and interesting Lesser Cockroach Luckily it's an outdoor species that prefers the beach so I probably won't have infested anything. Quite a lovely little creature that's let down by the behaviour of some of its relatives.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
That cute Common blue butterfly was firmly sat on my Salvia 'Blue Note' last evening so I could capture its portrait from various angles. I checked this morning around 8 a.m. and it was still there!
Quite a few blues around at the moment which is lovely to see. A couple of holly blues been hanging around for the last few weeks:
And then this little fella today which at first I assumed was a female common blue, but now I'm pretty sure is a brown argus (no blue at all on the open wings, 2 dark spots you can just make out on the upper wings).. first time in my garden!!
