Morning folks, always seems to be 7am when I get up! Dying for a cuppa, but the old man gets up when he wakes up. Is now asleep on the sofa, kitchen/lounge open plan,so the kettle is only a few feet from him and will wake him up! I don't expect March will behave,it's not renown for it. It's very windy here, forecast is showers. How Chicky is feeling better. We're pretty sure the old man had Covid February 20,and his sense of taste hasn't been the same since. He doesn't like things he used to,is convinced I have "changed" recipes, and eats things a lot spicier than he used to. Hope everyone has a decent day.

Good morning all 😊 ☕️  it’s overcast here today … but fairly bright just the same.
Cupboards feature in our day too, as we have a delivery coming from Sainsbugs this evening and we’ll have to find room for it all … it’s mainly dry goods, tins and jars. Anyone got a spare pantry we could borrow …? 😉

I think we will be revamping what we keep in our cupboards in future, Dove.   Some of the cleaning stuff is years old. I suppose I could try the. And if they’ve lost their power, off to the tip.

We’ve been glued to the TV today with the flooding problems in northern NSW, mainly around Lithgow. Amazing footage.

  • Morning everyone,  yes we had to empty everything from under the kitchen sink, but plumber didn't come,  so we have 2 baskets of stuff cluttering up the kitchen,  no point in putting it back till the job finally gets done.
We had a bit of a scare with the freezer yesterday,  water dripping from the ice dispenser. Only-12 &the motor running flat out. We think something had moved and had stopped the door being fully closed but it's taken all night to get back down to -18.  Still,  first World problems eh I bet the  people of Ukraine would swap in a heartbeat.

Hope your radio interview went well @didyw ……a star of the airwaves - think thats a first for a Forker 🤩🤩🤩

Another positive test today - boo.  So thats at least another two days up here with my stitching and crochet to keep me sane.  Am also making good progress on working my way through my gardening magazine backlog, and have caught up on all of Winterwatch (missed it as we were in Barbados).  I know I’m not legally required to do this isolation thing anymore, but it seems only right to follow the public health guidance.  It would be great if Mr C can stay free of the lurgy.

Had to postpone Iceland (meant to go tomorrow) but are rearranging for mid March - got a full refund so thats good.

And I might get dressed up for a morning in my greenhouse tomorrow - that space can become part of my zone (so long as everyone vacates my path to the front door on my way out).  Got lots of potting on to do.

Thanks for thinking of me @chicky - but I got a text to say they didn't have time on the show today so it is being postponed to later in the week.  Glad you got a full refund on your Iceland trip - so you still have that to look forward to next month.

You'll have to give me a nudge when you know when you're going on @didyw 👍
The morning started overcast but it's much brighter now ... but the forecast says the rest of you have rain and it's coming our way ... I may not put the bedlinen on the line ... I got a load of unmentionables dry out there in the sunshine and breeze yesterday.

Monday is always a busy day here ... the bedlinen has been changed and is in the wash, the bathroom cleaned and bread is proving ... when I've drunk this coffee the sitting room will be dusted, swept and tidied and the sofa seat and back cushions turned etc ... then I have butternot squash and red pepper soup to make for OH's next lot of lunches, and a macaroni cheese to make for tomorrow's supper ... although I may do that tomorrow morning. I have a dental appointment tomorrow at 4 so I thought a supper we can just pop in the oven would be a good idea.

@WonkyWomble and I were talking about my seeming to be organised ... she's the same ... we put it down to having been responsible for numbers of farm animals ... they have to be fed and mucked out etc ... you can't put it off because something else has happened or you feel unwell or whatever ... so we both do what has to be done before we do anything else ... it's the way I was brought up ... even at Christmas ... on Christmas morning we could open a small present when we woke .... then we had to wait until Pa had fed all the pigs and hens etc before Christmas and all the fun started.
Pa's assistant stockman always had at least Christmas Day and Boxing Day off to spend with his family ... that was the way things were done.  Wonky said she also always does what has to be done before she does anything else ... the time isn't hers until she's done the jobs ... whether it's paid work or what has to be done at home.

I always prep the evening meal in the morning ... always have ... then if something happens or I'm needed somewhere there'll still be a meal at around the usual time.  I suppose for folk with microwaves and a stock of frozen ready meals it's different ... but we cook from scratch here ... always have ... so does Wonky.   :)  Tonight it's  panfried lamb's liver with bacon and onions, mashed potatoes and Cavalo Nero from the garden ... (think it'll be the last picking ... it's been wonderful) so in a few minutes, when I peel the veg for the soup, I'll peel some potatoes and a couple of onions, and pop out and pick the Cav. Everything ready to cook later on and it'll only take about half an hour from a standing start.  :)

I’m organised - but I put it down to genes and lists 🤣. Never had more than a hamster to care for 😉

I have passed the genes on to Chicklet - who is ferociously organised.  But not to littlest Chicklet - who is famously (and rather endearingly) NOT.

    You fib @chicky 😂... you've had chicklets to care for ...  ;)

Don't think it's my genes ... according to Ma she despaired of my lack of organisation as a child 😏
