It's a lovely day here, warm and sunny. The lavenders have been particularly good this year and just watching the red admirals and peacock butterflies dashing and darting about on them is another reason why I enjoy gardening.

Just had a lovely long phone chat with my daughter. She's bought a water butt, guttering for her shed and a compost bin.

I do believe I've persuaded her into gardening!

B3,"hint of autumn", we were on the beach with the dogs this morning, oldest daughter lives in Tunbridge Wells, said it was raining and chilly. Sent her a picture of the temperature from our car!

Cooler and windy but no sign of rain.  Not the 'cold leaf picking wind' quite yet.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I've rather optimistically packed the hosepipes away. I've read that there may be rain on the way by next weekend - fingers crossed.

Potential problem is that there are forecasts of very heavy rain, and that will probably just run straight off.  What we need is a couple of days (or preferably nights) of steady rain so that it has the chance to soak in and open the soil back up.
