Anyone who has been following the progress of the 'Vimes Boots Index' will find this thread cheering and quite moving:

I love this quote from him. "If you finish you beat everyone who doesn't," said Jamaican skier Benjamin Alexander hours before he took to the slopes at Beijing 2022.

I saw him @Dovefromabove. Doesn't it just lift your spirits. If we never push ourselves, we'd achieve nothing.

RTBC today is that it's finally stopped raining. [kiss of death!] Simple pleasures.  :)

Mind you - Wednesday and Thursday here don't look too grand  :D
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Much of the true Olympic Spirit was destroyed after Eddie the Eagle.  He was the best the country had so was entered.  After that the authorities started changing the rules so only those thought to have a chance of getting a medal were allowed to enter.

Who can compete depends on the individual national federations ... the Olympic organisation itself does not restrict entry to those of a certain standard

Jamaica was happy to enter Benjamin Alexander (who was born in the UK ... his parent/s emigrated from Jamaica) I think he was self-funding.

Been potting some seeds in the g/h and a Robin decided it was much nicer inside than out, so came to join me.
How can you lie there and think of England

Makes a nice change to be able to post on here. The weather was glorious on the beach 12c, sat on the prom out of the wind. There were roses and deep pink osteospermums, and purple Hebes in flower. Our solar panels are being installed in just over 2 weeks. Got the grandkids next week, half term. Haven't seen them since Christmas day
