Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks I suppose. Back in the day when telly went off for a while to allow parents to get the kids to bed, the potters wheel film was used to get the kids away from the telly.
To be honest, l wasn't sure where to post this, as heaven knows a young child singing in a shelter isn't a RTBC, but l didn't want to post it on the other thread amongst all the other debate. Her innocence amongst all the horror broke my heart, but in a strange way gave me hope at the same time. https://youtu.be/DJJxAvl33Dw
I haven't drawn my pension yet, although now at pensionable age (allegedly - I think my mum and dad made a mistake on my birth certificate as I still feel 14) - but the economic impact of Covid and now Ukraine has had quite an impact on my pension funds, with little time to build it back.
The RTBC is that's minor isn't it?
1) I have a pension.
2) I didn't catch covid (and none of my family died) and die or suffer from its after effects
3) I'm not in Ukraine and haven't lost any members of my family to war caused by a madman
4) I'm not in Ukraine and have to watch my country being destroyed
5) I have never suffered in my life and never wanted shelter, heat, food or water
I know it's wrong to look at others' adversity and in some way feel reassured by your own circumstances - but when you looks around the globe, it puts your own ills into perspective eh? I've had a blessed life - an amazing extended family - never been out of work, never had to really worry (apart from family - but who doesn't worry about them?!).
You lose sight of the basics eh? Just being alive and being allowed to live without threat of war, famine, drought...I just take/took it for granted.
My birthday today. Spent the morning at the local garden centre, a big place with lots of non gardening stuff. Treated myself to some goodies, and two outdoor plant pots, actually made in the UK! Back home for a posh afternoon tea, courtesy of a raid on Waitrose. Had a lovely day, despite the miserable weather. And I got the green bins filled yesterday for this morning’s collection. Result!
