@didyw - yes, my OH first met him when we shared the same (English-speaking) doctor and struck up a conversation. I have since met him whilst out shopping. He has lived in Martina Franca for 15 years. He gave us his mobile number. Small world

Tow rope in car, Check! Battery leads in car check!, 5 litres of petrol in can check!
Arrive to find son in law broken down with car and grandson at side of road. Advised petrol gauge might be a bit dodgy so pour 5 litre can's worth into tank. Car starts and there off.
Numpty has been advised to keep the petrol can and put some some petrol in it and keep it in the car.
The bonus was got to see 18 month old grandson who was busy shouting his new favourite word at every passing tractor ( lot of tractors around here new potatoes planting season going on) which is Digger.

👍 @Kili 'Digger' was my son's faourite word for many months ... usually 'Lellow Digger!'
@Dovefromabove that's so funny. Diggers seem to get them chatting, anyway its the way he says it as well which is funny. As soon as he arrives at my house he walks me to my computer and says vio, vio digger as we watch diggers on yourtube to slow him down. I think vio means video from when his Dad has shown him video on his phone . Its the only way to get him to sit still for a while as he's like a tornado never stops just whizzing round the house.

Better, but not as funny, as the phrase my mate's 3 year old repeatedly shouted out of the car at another driver who had cut his Dad up, and then pulled into a petrol station in front of us. There was absolutely no doubt that he was shouting "Silly bugger, silly bugger" as he pointed to the other driver.
My son's love for 'Lellow Diggers' stemmed from the fact that his farming uncle had a yellow digger ... and gave him his own smaller 'limited edition' version, which was hauled up the stairs and taken to bed with him every night ... it was the size of a well-grown Cocker spaniel!!!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
My dentist showed me a clip of his three (?) year old nephew exhorting grandad to come into the garden to see his new toy tractor. Except he did not quite get it right: “Gramps, come with me to see my new f**cker.”
