Nice and cool here outside only 22 now at 18.24. We were at 37.1 yesterday a new record for Jersey.
Trouble is my house is too well insulated the boiler thermometer says 28 in the lounge. Its only 24 in the greenhouse  :D

Now 36.4 C on my outside temperature sensor, down from  a peak of 39.6 earlier. Hope it keeps dropping.

Hats off to the meteorologists. This heatwave was predicted four days ago and, here at any rate, they got it precisely right.

Woohoo we have rain, strong winds came plus a get drops , was worried that was it  then the wind dropped and a heavy downpour.  It only lasted 10-15 min but very welcome,  looking at the sky we might get more. 🤞

We had enough rain to dampen the ground this evening, OH thought I was mad 'cause I dashed out to stand in it, needless to say it soon went away.

We had some rain at 2:50am.  It lasted 2 minutes.

The sound and light show, very distant, lasted almost 2hours.

We have exactly the same problem and I wasn't sure whetherto post in RTBC or Curmudgeon.  Currently 22 outside, 25 in our lounge and 28 in the bedrooms.  The windows are all open but there is no breeze.

The garden seems to be coping with the heat better than we are. Surprisingly little looks dead this morning, after a peak temperature of 39.6 yesterday, two nights not dropping below about 25 and no rain. As far as I can see the only casualty is a small spirea in a pot that I'd plonked in a gap in the border so it's not on the drip system. I've given it a can of water this morning. It's leaves are all crispy, well beyond wilting, but maybe it'll recover given water and time. The grass areas have lots of brown patches, but it'll recover eventually when it gets enough rain (as long as no-one chucks a fag end onto it and sets it alight :o ) so I'm not counting it as a casualty.
