I learned to read at 3 and within a few weeks Ma said I could read my own simple books out loud … I cannot imagine what my life would’ve been like if I couldn’t read.
We were surprised to see it as well @Fairygirl, there are plenty of big trees and a big wood not far from the house which would be its normal habitat, it was quite small for a woodpecker though. We've had the odd Green one, pecking on the lawn but haven't seen that one for a year or two.

It's good that he is being so open about it. Hopefully it will encourage others in the same situation to ask for help. I also learned to read very young and can't imagine a life without reading material. I can still clearly remember picking up an information leaflet when we moved to Germany when I was 6. I managed to read most of it OK but Cologne had me stumped. Best I came up with was Coll - og - knee, but still not bad at 6 years old.
My new tumble dryer has arrived, and the old one has gone. Have to wait for OH to connect it up. Unfortunately I made sure I was ahead on the laundry, so I won’t get to try it out for a few days.
It's a little lighter earlier now in the mornings and a bunch of daffs I bought recently are opening up on my dining room table, looking so cheery. To me, these little signs suggest Spring isn't too far away.
