Hello folks, started out very wet, then drizzled, a very quick glimpse of sunshine just before lunch and now just grey. Splashed down to the paper shop and after a quick look round to see if anybody was watching me, spent a very satisfying few moments clearing the mud with a stick to unblock the rainwater channels at the side of the road.
I know, little things please little minds.....Why should children have all the fun?

We're rather astounded here, OH saw his physio on Thursday who said he was going to recommend him for hip replacement surgery. This morning he's had an NHS letter inviting him to book his op! Got a choice of three private hospitals apparently. It will be interesting to find out whether that's going to be this year, next year or in 5 years time.
    Will let you know.

Had a quick look at the 1921 Census yesterday which is now online - at a price. Found out that my grandfather was a private chauffeur then. I'd love to know what car he had.
He'd apparently learnt to drive in WW1. My 15 yr old father was working as a laboratory assistant at a wholesale druggist (chemist?). I hadn't known that before. What fun.

Your haberdashery shop sounds good @Busy-Lizzie, there are not that many left over here, more's the pity.

We had bacon butties for a very rare treat for lunch. The bacon was left over from the dish I made the other evening and I bought a lovely fresh baguette from the bakery to go with it. Yumm.

I think I need to steer clear of Wordle - sounds addictive!
It takes only about three minutes a day,  nothing to get addicted too

@Penny_Forthem 😊  my dear friend ... I thought that might be you ((hugs)) so glad to see you here xx

Do you two know each other?
We do … in that we’ve both been members of the same small foodie/cooking forum since the year dot, so have been meeting up and chatting about ‘stuff’ (just like we do on Forkers) every day online for probably 20 years ish? and despite living at opposite sides of this island we’ve also met up a few times too. As we know,  Forum friends can become ‘real friends’ too ((hugs)) and an important part of our lives. 😊

How nice Dove and Penny-Forthem. I've met one or two forum friends over the years, it's a delightful experience and they have always been how I imagined them to be.

I’ll answer to almost anything @Penny_Forthem … but of course you can’t ‘nudge’ me with an @ if you use my alias 😂

Just remembering my Farming Grandpa who used to say ‘you can call me anything you like, but don’t call me too late for dinner’ … I suspect that saying has been passed down through the generations in several families 😊

I'll look forward to it. I've met people from this forum who don't post here anymore, 3 even came to stay with me in France and I've stayed with one of them. Some post on another forum.

It has rained today, I've been doing cleaning jobs.
