    A lovely haul, @didyw
I've just come back from the library too. I support them as much as possible, they are a valuable resource, IMO... and have been for me  ever since I was a nipper.

Hello folks,  Woke up late to brilliant sunshine so had to eat breakfast quickly and shoot out the door to get the paper before they were all gone. Sadly, it clouded back over by 11.30 am and the enthusiasm to get out in the garden has vanished along with the sun.

Hope you get better soon DD, sounds horrendous, good job you went to emergency though. Was it Tramadol they prescribed? I had the same horrible reaction to that when I did my back in, it's one of the side effects apparently. My GP's now put a very large warning notice on my medical records.

Lovely selection there @Didyw, the hellebore looks gorgeous.
Our goldfinches are also eating us out of home and hearth @florallies. I'll have to order some more sunflower hearts soon.

I took the max dose of Tramadol before my Hip surgery. It took me about 3 years to bef fully rid of the side effects.

  • Not tramadol @Lizzie27 but something similar, paracetamol and opium mix. I think I took it too soon after porridge, the second dose has been ok. It says eat but I'm struggling to do that. I've just been eating toast. I could have managed soup but not sure it would be classed as food.

Soup can be very nutritious DD and much better for sore throats. You could have both and dip the toast in the soup! If you don't have tinned in stock, could you get one of your staff to drop some off for you?

You know that saying that small things amuse small minds? Well, when you are expecting a parcel delivery and you can track how many stops away the driver is I think is amazing but the telephone still amazes me. Don't laugh will you, just pity me.  :*

I hope the treatment works quickly @D0rdogne_Damsel and you are back to normal soon.

It's been a lovely sunny afternoon. I've planted my three new yellow roses, Happiness, Graham Thomas and Golden Celebration. It took me over two hours as I had to dig up some of the lawn along the fence and remove some of the heaviest clay and mix compost and chicken manure into the soil. The chicken manure came out of the chicken shed early last year when I cleaned it out so that I could use it as a garden tool shed.

I also met my new neighbour who moved here in early January, a young couple with 2 children. He has chickens and, bother it, a couple of cockerels. I hope they are far enough away not to wake me in the summer, unlike the Norfolk cockerel. The donkey paddock is between us and them. He seemed nice, was friendly.

@punkdoc  Not a silly thing to say at all - quite plainly it's stress - resistance down and caught the bugs @D0rdogne_Damsel  It's harder when you have no one to share the woes with.  The forthcoming holiday will be a boon for you.

Good evening. I hope you’ve had a good day - whether that’s a small improvement in ailments, a less cold day, a treat, time with someone you love or something good to eat.

I started a new jigsaw! It’s one of the ones where the picture you have isn’t the final image. You have to guess what happens next and create a new scene. It’s pretty difficult but I’ve made a start and have worked out a few changes already.

Off to make food now. Take care all.

I’ve been cooking up crabapples today. Boiling jars, straining, etc etc. not sure yet if I’m going to make syrup again or jelly. The thing is that we hardly ever eat jam on bread or toast any more, but we do like syrup on yoghurt.  I guess it’ll be surly then. 🙄
