Just in from the biting cold so your pics are helping to warm me up @chicky!
Nice to see you up and about @D0rdogne_Damsel - but you do look pale; don't overdo it!
My friend with the broken shoulder answered her own door when I stopped by to drop off some flowers for her.  I thought her husband would be there.  I was shocked to see her - like a ghost and up the gills in painkillers I think.   I hurried away as I didn't want her standing in the cold, admonishing her to get back into bed.

Oh the poor woman @didyw .... and shoulder injuries are so painful ... such a complex joint.  I do hope it heals well and quickly.  I had a shoulder injury a few years ago (not as bad as hers) ... the physio afterwards was so helpful.

Back from our dental checkups , thanks to Covid, haven’t been for two years. All fine, scaled and polished, and a rough edge smoothed off. OH has to go back for a chipped tooth to be repaired, but thankfully everything else OK. The practice had four cancellations today from patients down with Covid.
Didnt really get any jobs done this morning, and only just finished a late lunch. Annoyingly, the green bin collection restarts tomorrow, and despite having had weeks to start filling them, they are both empty. I’ll just have to be pragmatic and ignore the fee I wasted this fortnight. It’s just been so dank and cold I haven’t been tempted out to the garden.

Thanks Dove. I am worried about her.  She doesn't have the best of health - she had a major op on her spine the Christmas before last and had to have her gall bladder removed early last year so she has been there before with the heavy duty painkillers.

Oh bless her ... she needs to be gentle with herself.

The entrance pipe to the septic tank has been replaced and it's working! m0134 Hurray for the latest man! He dug a big hole and found the pipe. As the tank had sunk deeper into the clay the pipe had come apart at a join and the roots from the leylandii hedge had grown into it. He said the join should have be fixed more strongly, he's put cement around it. He said there may be problems again if the tank sinks any more but it could be in 1 - 10 years. It may have got worse because of the heavy rainfall early in the year last year when the rivers flooded.

Thank you all for your sympathy.
No building guarantee, tank is over 10 years old and the house is very old, but the bill was about £355 so not as bad as it could have been.

I had a good lunch and afternoon with my friend and her dog. We couldn't go for the planned walk because of workmen but we managed two short ones.

The odd job man, C, came and put up 3 curtain rails and several screws for hanging pictures.

Excellent news Busy-Lizzie. Still a lot of money but at least you know the problem is solved.

That's jolly good news @Busy-Lizzie and the bill's not so bad either. Better frame his telephone number and put it somewhere prominent. Glad you enjoyed lunch and chat with your friend.
I've done nothing all afternoon but browse on the laptop - really lazy and regretting it now as my back aches.

Evening friends. So pleased to hear that Busy's tank problem has been solved, what a relief. My apologies to @D0rdogne_Damsel as I seem to have missed your birthday - belated greeting and am so pleased to see you were able to get out for a little garden walk today. Hope your recovery wont take too long now.
Tuesday's and Wednesday's and occasionally Friday's are my days for 'dog sitting' our two JR terriers while daughter is at work. She has to get up at 3.30am to leave at 4'30 and lets the dogs out while she is getting ready to go , they then go back to bed until they wake me, anywhere between 6.30 and 8 usually. I spend the morning entertaining them (!) and generally looking after them - dog is 6 and young bitch pup is 5 months - short walkies and supervision of games and general puppy toilet training for pup. When daughter returns they all go off for walkies round the farm or to take hay supplies to the horses now on their winter 'shelter' fields further away. This all worked well until last week. For some reason we now have late evening/overnight wild animals roaming about and making huffing and puffing noises or tooting (owls) or calling (may be foxes) or just generally being inconsiderate lol! The dogs of course hear everything and feel it important to inform us that they will guard us and repel all boarders, and keep repeating this message all night! We are getting no sleep and have no idea how to solve they problem. Any suggestions??
