Indeed @didyw … there was such sadness and loneliness … a lovely chap I knew way back ended his life when his mother died, simply because of the loneliness that stretched ahead of him. He was so well liked in the village … but so alone 😢. I hope your friends have a wonderful wonderful wedding. 🥂

Ah, who doesn't love a good wedding? Not long before hub's diagnosis, he had to have his wedding ring cut off - I decided I ought to have mine resized. That was months ago. We now need to get them both resized and we are wondering whether to mark the 'rewearing' in some way. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since they were both removed. How come it's nearly the end of January?
Went garden visiting yesterday - beautiful space created in a deep gully. And I saw my first hummingbirds …..tiny little things they are - much smaller than wrens
Less said about the cricket the better ☺️ Going again tomorrow so hoping that the good side turn up.
Bad news about the septic tank @Busy-Lizzie. It’s heartbreaking spending that amount of money and not having anything to show for it - bit like a new roof. Hope you get some decent quotes.
A real pain about the Septic tank @Busy-Lizzie, I don't suppose it'll be covered by pre-sale surveys/ building insurance etc. Nothing ever seems to fall into the right category to claim for.
I'm feeling a little better today, managed a walk around the garden, even cut some tatty leaves off the Hellebores so I can see the flowers. Sitting in the sun now, albeit looking a bit like Nanook of the North. 😅
Taken some nice photos of buds and seeds, ignored the weeds, definitely on the mend, sunshine and nature so revitalising. Full of hope. I'll post on the garden picture thread.

Lovely photos @Chicky. Glad you are enjoying your holiday - if not the cricket.
@Busy-Lizzie Maybe the septic tank is very very old and needs replacing anyway. Get a few quotes before you do anything.
Good you are feeling the effects of the medication @D0rdogne_Damsel
Washing in and drying off in the conservatory - the sun has moved off the washing line. Smells good! Faffing around this morning on the computer. Did the census online. Now have to download my printer as the scanner part of it isn't working since I did an update yesterday. It seems likely that the gym I joined is reluctant to defer the lessons I missed because of my fractured rib. Yes, I have a doctor's certificate. Pending.....
A pleasant afternoon to you all - even those going to bed @Pat E and the ones on holiday!!
Still very cold and grey here, would love to see some sun, that beach looks fabulous @chicky. That's not good news @Busy-Lizzie, what a b....r. Hope you enjoy your lunch with your friend though, something to cheer you up. Glad you're feeling better today @D0rdogne_Damsel and you can start looking forward to your holiday.
Good news about the wooden footbridge today, the other half will be installed in the next few days according to the Councillor. She'd been told it was because the bridge was made in two half halves and there was a delay in delivering the 2nd half due to construction industry issues. A very imaginative explanation. Silly me had originally thought it would be constructed in situ.
I love a good wedding too @didyw and think that's a rather nice idea @Penny_Forthem. I've only just given my OH a wedding ring for our 25th, he wasn't sure about wearing one before. You could have a church blessing if you're so inclined or just a special lunch out with family or friends to celebrate the revised rings.
I've been quite energetic today and cleaned nearly all the inside windows, they don't get done very often. Had to get the footstool out again to reach the tops.
Though not as warm as where @chicky is... glad you're having fun! Good news that @D0rdogne_Damsel is on the mend and enjoying garden therapy. But not such good news re @Busy-Lizzie 's septic tank... ours blocked last spring, and we think we may need to get some of the pipework re-laid, but for the moment everything is still flowing, probably thanks to the "Muck Munchers" biological stuff we flush down the loo once a month (other brands of bacteriological cleaners are undoubtedly available). Not a nice problem for you to have, especially when you're having to sort everything out on your own. Fingers crossed there's a solution which isn't too eyewateringly expensive...
Our roofers have finished, and everything is neat, clean and tidy. We really can't fault them - though it wasn't a cheap job, thanks to the need for scaffolding up the gable end.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Got to go now - this beach is calling me
Lovely beach @chicky. 😎
