Afternoon all, and good night @Pat E.

Another quietish day here, still very blustery with a chilly westerly wind. Had a very good, thorough, back and shoulder massage this morning which my beautician said was sorely needed. Shoulder's now complaining so I have officially excused myself from h/w.

Much to our amazement the Council have been out and unblocked the storm drain on the farm lane so we didn't need our wellies on after all. this morning. It's only taken six weeks since complaining to get it done. They haven't made a very good job of it though so as soon as it rains hard, the lane will flood again. It really needs a culvert under the road but that's not going to happen as it only goes to the farm.

A big decision @Hostafan1, all the best whatever you decide to do.

Many congratulations @chicky. What will you do next year!!!!

My Xmas decs are still in the Xmas cupboard and the tree's still in the loft. I don't decorate until the week before Xmas. Hate stuff being put up earlier and earlier.

I'd stay put as well @punkdoc until you know what's going on and how long MIL will be in hospital for.

    Afternoon.

Have a few days off this week, which is a nice breather.Β

I suppose I was fortunate that, being in the business, I felt able to support my Mum so she could have her last days at home. I don’t think my Dad and Sister could have otherwise. I am biased but I think if it’s possible then home is very comforting for all. Of course, it is only possible with support for you/family and a robust palliative care set-up - hospice at home or similar. When FIL was at end of life, all the previous difficulties about the dementia went away as, sadly, he was bed bound and hardly awake. Of course, new concerns replaced them as he needed regular visits from the carers for personal care. Β If you both can be supported (and bearing in mind that it may be for quite a time), you feel strong enough, and think it’s best for hubby, then it can happen @Hostafan1. My heart goes out to you.

    Great news from @chicky - nice one.Β

    Take care all.

Really depends on how much help you will need, and can get. Also on how aware hubby is.Β
My dad was at home, but my mother and sister were both nurses.
My mother was also at home, but lived with my sister, a nurse. The care support from the council was next to useless though, not qualified or experienced, and eventually my sister cancelled it. I’ve heard though that proper hospice at home care is a lot better, if available where you live.
All you can really do is try and work out what would be the kindest situation for you both. Proper help and support at home, or is there room for a camp bed in the care home?
Good luck with whatever you decide, there is no right and wrong.

Hmmm. Nothing like a sense of urgency then.

I've arrived rather late, evening all. That always reminds me of Dixon of Dock Green.

    Well done, @chicky

Hard decision @Hostafan1. Would there be anyone to help if hubby comes home? If not I would be inclined to leave him and see what the Hospice people say. My OH died in hospital, but I didn't have a choice.

I had my booster vaccination this morning. Arm has just staring to ache a little, but it's been fine all day.
Went to the Renault garage to see about winter tyres. The tyres need changing in front, back ones are fine so they will put winter ones on the front. Appointment on Tuesday.

Then I bought a small Christmas tree at the GC. There isn't much room for one. I've put it in front of the French windows as I won't use them in the winter. They lead onto the Terrace but the garden table and chairs are in the car port barn for the winter.

Did a food shop at the SM and started Christmas shopping.

Hello @Busy-Lizzie, glad you've had your booster, hope your arm doesn't ache too much. We only have a smallish tree as well, an artificial one, I can't be doing with getting a real one every year so gave up that years ago. We put ours in the same place as you. I've just given the first presie to my beautician this morning.

    Hi all

They are keeping MIL in, so we are staying home for the time being.
