I've tried clicking on both links, both the email one and on the Amazon website and neither are letting me proceed further to input my new card details. Don't think I can be bothered and will wait until I want to buy something. I don't want to get another credit card either, always been happy with my Visa one.

  • Volunteer day today so no time to post this am. Quite a pleasant day weather-wise,ย  and for once the M25 was OK. Last visit of the season next week,ย  then off yo end of January, another year flown by. The current head gardener isย  leaving next week too & the rumours are that she may not be replaced , all very odd.ย

MIL being moved to a community hospital.

The search for a home begins in earnest. Moira and her sister are going up next week to look at places, they have decided, probably quite wisely that I would not be much use.

    Hugs to you all.ย
I hope they find a solution which keeps everyone happy.

    I hope so too.

I haven't had side effects from my Covid booster, just a slightly sore arm.

I found the tree decorations and lights and the crib in the loft. Will fix it all up at the weekend. Tomorrow I'm going to make decorations to tie to the pews in the Chapel for the Carol Service. I've picked Leylandii and ivy which is drying out in the utility room (rained on this afternoon). I'll make bunches with tinsel, ribbons (found in loft) and star tree decorations.

This morning I did more Christmas shopping and this afternoon I made 45 mince pies.

We are back from dance class and it is wild and wet out there.ย  ย Should be all over by tomorrow am tho and some calm and dry weather setting in.ย  ย

OH and Possum are itching to start putting up Xmas decs but I'm resisting.ย  ย Certainly don't want to start on outside lights till it's less windy and indoors will have to wait for a good clean before the tree comes in and lights and baubles go up.ย  ย I have two English friends coming on Wednesday to learn how to make felt and fabric baubles so maybe after that.ย ย

Is a community hospital like the old cottage hospitals @punkdoc?ย  Sounds like a good half way house to get her used to the idea of a home.ย  Hope all goes well with that.

  • Hello all,ย

@Hostafan1, I so feel for you. Do whatever feels right for you, but don't be driven by feelings of guilt. Practical reality is sadly very important.ย ย

@punkdoc as @Allotment Boy says, I hope a satisfactory solution can be found.

I am currently looking at buying a 'nice' bungalow, low maintenance, small garden, but feeling I am old before my time... but also wrestling being sensible.ย

Christmas cakes are taking up most of my day...

Yes it is @Obelixx, they still have a few in Highland Scotland. I think they are ideal places to assess what needs an older person has, without blocking an acute hospital bed.
Sadly most of the ones I knew in England have been closed and the land sold off to build houses.

    Love the cakes @DOrdogne_damsel

That sounds good @punkdoc, ย itโ€™s a very dire situation down here with care staff, ย Cornwall hospital actually asked for anyone, whoever, ย may be able to take an elderly person as they had people taking 200+ beds that needed freeing up.
they canโ€™t send them home because thereโ€™s no care available.
I thought it was bad when I needed help with my parents that was in 2014/15/16. Itโ€™s much worse now.ย
