Good morning all. Busy few days again and today is similar with a trip to merry hill( our local shopping centre) for a few last minute gifts then a massage and facial. Then nanny duty and an evening wrapping presents.
Work is getting busier and we have people off so have been asked to do more hours, I have agreed to some but not lots I have too much to do.
We are having fiancé’s mom at ours on Christmas Day, she is a difficult woman who dislikes Christmas but I can’t leave her on her own. She won’t eat turkey so we got a boneless lamb leg joint. It’s in the freezer now. I will still get turkey obviously as all mine are coming round on Boxing Day for a buffet. Any suggestions for tasty accompaniments to lamb? I am thinking a fruity stuffing and minted gravy?
You have all been busy bunnies as usual what do people have planned for today?
Hazel, how nice to be able to see 23's acting debut. Nativity plays are so sweet. I am another who has recorded You Don't Know Me and, like Busy, I have no idea when I will watch it.
Chive, I bet Nel was having a wonderful time and yes, they do look so cute batting things around.
Debs, I think you have got the meal with the MIL in mind sorted. Maybe rosemary and apricot stuffing if thats what you are thinking. I like lamb roasted with rosemary sprigs inserted into cuts made in the joint.

Morning everyone, it seems extremely dark this morning. @debs64 lamb and all the trimmings sounds delicious. I love lamb😋 Enjoy your pampering Debs, hope Merry Hill isn't too busy and you manage to get everything you need. I'm feeling rather tired after going out shopping yesterday, wasn't out that long. I'm going to sort through the pressies I've got today and might start wrapping. I've no idea when I'll start watching it either @Ladybird4 Need another cup of tea, have a good day everyone
Hello all … @debs64 I’ve got a Good Housekeeping recipe for a boned and stuffed leg of lamb which includes apricots… it’s delicious (I used to do it for big house parties back in the seventies) … apparently it’s a traditional New Zealand Christmas dish as lamb was more easily obtainable than turkey or goose … they called it Colonial Goose. If you want me to type it out just shout 😉

@Dovefromabove yes please. I will be cooking dinner despite fiancé being a chef as I really enjoy it.
Any ideas for films that will not offend? I never watch tv at Christmas usually but fiancé’s mom never switches it off at her house and it will provide background noise if conversation is difficult. With 6 children all as vociferous as their mom in the house we never needed such props usually but this is a different situation and I wish to be prepared. She is quite right wing in her views and doesn’t really like Christmas so any suggestions gratefully received.
@star gaze lilytry to take it easy today shopping is exhausting isn’t it? I have a list and I will stick to it!
Ok @debs64 I’ll type it out later this morning for you smile 😃 I’d forgotten your OH is a chef … talk about teaching my grandmother to suck eggs 🤭 … but then many moons ago I did have a catering business … 😊

Thank you @debs64 Do you have any idea what type of films your MIL likes? You could maybe record a few, Christmas day tv may not be to her taste....apart from the usual Morecambe and Wise repeats. We don't have TV on on Christmas day either, except for the little ones perhaps watching The Snowman. Your lamb recipe sounds delicious @Dovefromabove
Just want to say hi to all in the quiet corner. Especially any of our RES friends from awhile ago. Runnybeak if you ever look in, I hope you're well and would love you to pop in and say Hi.
Take care and hope all of are well. Very best wishes to you all.
