I'm just going right O/T for the moment to let you know, in case you might be interested but not aware of this, but when you download the new Windows 11, it comes with a WhatsApp already installed, which means that if you use WhatsApp a lot, and most people do, then you can also use it to send text messages via the laptop pc instead of using the mobile phone device... You just have to sync the two by scanning a bar code on screen... very easy.
Windows 11 took a little time to download and install but not too long... no problems so far.. I know some people are cautious of these things..
Hi all. My tulip pot is completely flooded with water despite having emptied it and replanted the whole thing. I don't think it was anything to do with the way I covered the drainage hole now...I think the compost was just so over saturated with water that it's become one impervious mass. I did add lots of sand to it but it obviously just didn't mix.
Will have to sort it soon! I'll have to empty it all again. Not sure how I'm going to get it all to dry out at this time of year.
I've actually done some rose related jobs today. I finally got round to measuring, drilling holes and fixing vine eyes into the wall at the front of the house for Lady of the Lake. Not that there's much to tie on yet. So I didn't bother doing the whole wall. Just enough to get it started off. I'll put some more in next year when it starts warming up again.
I also added some more to support the new growth on Malvern Hills. It's still growing strongly now. Stretching across the top of the door and nearly touching the main house wall!
Popped out briefly for fresh air after being stuck in bed, noted my crown princess Margaritte is still covered in immaculate flowers and buds. Very pleased with that rose! Most are slowing down with the odd bloom or two but theres enough out to still be plenty of colour.
This is a week or so old but more opened since and more buds to go;

They say that a load of grit is much better than sand for draining.

Is a 'tulip pot' a pot full of tulip bulbs?
Yes, I think the problem was that the compost came out of the bag completely sodden, and although I did my best to mix it up, it probably just had too much water in it to start with. I mixed in lots of gravel and sharp sand but it didn’t help.
Ill need to either combine it with something that’s bone dry - like my bucket of sandy garden soil from the shed - or get a new bag of compost from somewhere.
Both of these done at the same time with the same stuff. Blue actually had less sand and grit added but I did add some scoops of the dry garden soil with it which was obviously enough to open it up.

@Nollie Marie Pavie doing ok. Shutting down for winter, losing leaves, but also has some late flowers.
