After a noodle around the forum during a damp interlude, I’ve been trawling back in my brain through stuff I learned when working with various types of learning disability and social impairments etc. ‘Concrete rigid thinking’ came to mind …
I read out some of the worst rants to my OH, and his immediate reaction was that our poster is actually a troll, possibly more than one, just having a laugh as we try to correct the blatant inaccuracies. I thought not, more likely a ‘social impairment’, but I’m now wondering if they are deliberately looking to throw in some comment likely to make the hairs stand up on the back of the neck. Fresh manure, and cat poo in the compost just seem too bizarre to be true.
It's been quite a busy day today. I've mowed the lawn with the tractor mower and all the fiddly bits with the battery mower, also mowed the verges up the drive, the small donkey paddock and the path to the little river through the hayfield.
Nearly finished digging my new jewel bed and digging in lots of compost.
P came and has cleaned out the wood burning oven, even dismantled the chimney pipes and cleaned them, then he cleaned out the house gutters and replaced 2 tiles on the roof. I paid him. He and my handyman, CB, are going to grout the stones on the outside walls of the dining room and the sand, in big bags, and cement arrived today. Fascinating watching the chap using the crane to unload it all.
Plumber came and showed me how to regulate the new electric radiators in the new study and utility room.
Well done on losing that weight @ob@Obelixx. Weight loss is a lost cause for me at the moment, my children keep wining and dining me! Going to Son 1 this weekend.
I've just lit the stove. Can feel the warmth on my back as I type.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
There is clearly something very wrong @Ergates. When I was on our local town council we had one councillor who behaved in a similar way, took the floor as often as he could by raising his pencil immediately someone else spoke and making childish 'uh, uh' noises to get the chair to pick him. He had such a thick skin that all of our eye rolling etc. had absolutely no impact. And he always had to be right, no matter how wrong he was. I looked up the characteristics of sociopath and he had all of them. He had no empathy for anyone else yet demanded empathy from us when he had health issues, a death in the family etc. It got so I couldn't even look at him in meetings. He has quite the reputation in our town and one can always tell, when joining a conversation, just who they are talking about. Everyone groans.
You've got a lot to be thankful for @Busy-Lizzie, most of us have had awful abuse.
You seem to have had a very busy and productive day. My individual apple pies seem to have turned out well and I made us a tartlet using the left over pastry and apple for a dessert tonight so will report back later. I didn't find the butter pastry very easy to work with though, especially the rolling out but I guess I need more experience. (Sigh, more calories!).
It's rained heavily since lunchtime so the garden's getting a good soaking.
Been bucketing down here all afternoon, the soakaway outside the back door has flooded and I can’t get to the recycling bin. No visit to the donkeys tomorrow, the ground will be too soggy. Will have to identify something to do so we can avoid the jobs we should be doing! At least OH got the kitchen door back on, been off for so long I’ve forgotten why! We passed our local Tesco petrol station on the way to Hobbycraft. No diesel, but no queues. Got enough petrol to make sure we can get the car to, and back from, its next service.
Bucketing down here now. There are people sheltering in our porch. We’ve just had a very good Pad Thai, now we’re eating plum crumble tart and drinking the Prosecco that was left for us. Netflix here we come …. we know how to live 🥂 🍰

Great thought, Dove. I have one glass of Prosecco left in the bottle in the fridge. I shall go and pour it now! Recording of ‘Departure’ to watch. Love anything with Archie Punjabi in.
Well I've had a long day and am 2 beers in so please excuse me but hey ho, I've got the kitchen cleaned, cod loins and cauliflower and chesse prawn sauce on top in the oven just need to mash spuds and add insane amounts of butter and black pepper, shouldn't be a problem. More rain tomorrow, more drivel from the troll, roll on the weekend!! Best wishes to all 😀
