  • Morning everyone,  damp grey start here. Great excuse for not cutting the grass- I have had to put the mower petrol in the car.  OH has to take GD to college in Watford.

OH has gone to pick up the shopping. If he can get past the queue for the petrol station next door.

    Sigh

Bad day at work yesterday. Deeply frustrating bureaucratic structures getting in the way of desperately needed action on climate change. It happens all the time, I know, I just had a whole day of it yesterday and ended up very weighed down with pessimism.

Still. New day. Onward and upwards

St Ives is one of those places that has such good 'bone structure' it looks lovely in almost any weather, if you can see past the crowds. When it's quiet like that, it's glorious.

That's the problem we had yesterday wasted an hour and a lot of fuel trying to get to a supermarket,  huge queue for the petrol station.

Ferocious cloud here now, so no seaside. Gone with plan A, breakfast at Darts Farm restaurant, why is it their toast is so much better than I can make at home? It’s just bread, isn’t it? Then up the road to Ikea. Hopefully OH can then complete the lighting in our newly refurbished kitchen this afternoon. He has installed under cabinet, worktop lighting that comes on automatically when we go into the kitchen. Very swish!

Morning all.  That sea looks so tranquil Dove.
OH birthday today.  We don't really celebrate our birthdays much on the day, just catch up with the family at the weekend.  Daughter phoned several times yesterday to discuss arrangements and on the last call I inadvertently had her on loudspeaker as she asked what size t-shirt she should get for him.  I replied 'that quarter has been taken care of' but too late and he yelled out - Extra Large!  So now he knows he is sorted for t-shirts. And the books should be arriving today.  He knows about those too - so difficult to keep secrets in a small house!

    Morning all.

    Happy birthday to Mr didyw.

Thank you (about my photo) @didyw, @chicky and @tui34. I've posted more on the holiday thread. https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/comment/2407952#Comment_2407952

I'm glad you are enjoying your holiday @Dovefromabove, brave you going for a swim that early. I like water at 26°!

I hope @punkdoc is feeling a bit brighter today, chemical warfare is so scary. Sending hugs. Daft suggestion, though, about Moira finding someone younger. It's you she wants, just love her.

Just cut my hair with the help of mirrors. My favourite hairdresser is in Norfolk and I've had too many disastrous cuts in France.

    Gardening day today.

  • Many happys to Mr @didyw 🎈
I hope he enjoys his extended celebrations 😎

Weve just been out for a brisk walk around the harbour … stopping off for a double espresso ☕️ and making the acquaintance of several wet dogs and their owners  … so that’s two showers I’ve had already today 😂 🌧

Back to the cottage to dry off and do Popmaster then out to a gallery …
