@Dovefromabove - SIL put in a new one - Honda branded - but it still lost its charge when I didn't drive the car very much for a few weeks. I blame the car.
Yes modern cars have so many electric gizmos, none use a lot of charge on their own but it all adds up. One thing to check tho, make sure no internal lights are on. I had an issue with battery discharging till I found that little fingers (one of the grandchildren) was fiddling with the internal light switch in the rear. I hadn't noticed the light was on permanently, it was discharging the battery.
According to the AA man a new battery should hold its charge on as few as 2,000 miles per year. Something is draining your battery @didyw … or the battery is faulty.
A mechanic can check to see if something is draining the battery when you’re not driving it.
When you are driving it the alternator should be charging the battery so even with all bells and whistles on, it should replenishing all power that’s being used.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Been busy on Nanna duty the last couple of days so I'll be having an early night. It's Gabriel's birthday tomorrow so we'll be off to his lunchtime party, after that I'll have a bit of time to get some gardening done, hopefully. Hope all your car problems get sorted folks. Gold star for you @chicky Congratulations.
