Good luck on the M25 @Allotment Boy, enjoy the garden. Which one is it? Don't forget the photos!
I'm glad for you @Hostafan1, but not so glad for @Pat E. I hope it doesn't spread in Cooma.
My mother was a Wren at Bletchley Park during the war. She never spoke about it until it was on a programme on TV around 1970 when she was shocked that the secret had been broken. What we didn't know then was that she was sent to Colombo, Sri Lanka, to help with Japanese de-coding. My sister researched for Mummy's funeral and found that out. "The Times" today has an article about Bletchley and also mentions Japanese de-coding in Colombo - "Hore said that one of the most successful Wren operations was the interception of messages that showed the Japanese navy was planning to attack the British Eastern Fleet in Colombo harbour. “The Y Service Wrens prevented a second Pearl Harbour in March 1942. They . . . enabled the British fleet to sail before the attack.”"
We did know she was in Colombo after Bletchley because she learnt to make curries there and she spoke about the wonderful mangoes picked from the trees, but we didn't know she was intercepting Japanese messages during the war until my sister found out after her death.
I'm very proud of her. I wish I could tell her and pick up the phone for a chat as we used to.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning folks,no,I haven't just got up,how dare you, haha. Youngest grandaughter off to High School today, sent me a cheeky picture sticking her tongue out. When did Secondary schools take the American "High School", I obviously missed that one. Washing done, wall to wall blue sky.Hubby was still watering when it got dark. Shocked to see neighbour a couple of doors down watering his FRONT lawn. His garden is absolutely immaculate,a lot smaller than ours, but even so.
That's a shame @punkdoc (that Ernie's going, not the lovely weather) ... and can he come back for another visit ... have you recorded him barking ... I'm sure he's been spotted ... there's no need for anyone to know he's not still around ... one of those 'I LIVE HERE' notices on the gate might be an idea?

29C here already but with a breeze. Still too dry for gardening other than picking courgette and tomatoes and dead-heading dahlias. Despite Monty's advice to water pots in the morning I prefer to do it in the evening so they have time to soak it all up before it starts evaporating. Seems to be working so far.
Good decision to close some evenings @D0rdogne_Damsel and good luck with the staff training. I'd be happy with a gardener who weeds and knows what a weed is. I lose too many proper plants to indiscriminate OH and find dead-heading and cutting back keeps me in touch with what the plants are doing, doesn't take long and I can decide from which ones I want to save seeds.
Have a lovely day everyone.

I'd put a solar powered tail camera by your entrance too @punkdoc and maybe any other points he can get in easily and cause mischief such as more attempts at dumping rubbish.

Oh flamin’ ’eck … what is it with the hospitals down your way … that’s totally unreasonable @Hostafan1 … what sort of meds is he on? Are you expected to administer them? What sort of support are you going to get? What’s his GP’s view on this?

Ernie may come back in 10 days or so, because I am due to go into hospital for a few days [ if it happens ] and Moira will need the support.

Just back from hospital.
I might regret it later but I have no choice.
