    Update from hospital this morning.
" his current condition means he's not safe to be released into the community. It isn't safe for him, for you or the wider community" so it looks like he's moving to the care home who WILL allow me 24 hour access. Still 30 miles each way, but hey ho.

That is a sensible response at last @Hostafan1
  • Thank goodness @Hostafan1.
We made an early start (well early for us) so I got to the plots to water before 9:30. We are going to Regent's Park open air theatre tonight.  So early lunch & dinner so we can eat before we go.
It a private house at long barn so we could only see the outside.  It's been much added to over the years,  but apparently the original part goes back to 14 th C .

    Afternoon folks.

That is a far better result @Hostafan1, even if it's a long journey away.

Good luck with the new neighbours @Punkdoc. Have you met them yet?  I'd be tempted to take them round a cake or bottle to welcome them and get them onside.

It's too hot for sunbathing here @Obelixx so I'm staying inside where it's cooler. Apparently there are thunderstorms and heavy rain (thank goodness) for our region tomorrow. We've had no rain for at least three weeks I believe and the trees are dropping their leaves already.

Open air theatre sounds good @Allotment Boy, hope you enjoy it.

@Pat E, it's always open for your OH to refuse to see his fire chief and to tell him why. Your OH is a volunteer after all.

We both had another disturbed night (I was worrying about our forthcoming large family get together (76 people and counting....)). OH couldn't sleep either, it was very hot last night. I collected the paper this morning and let him have a lie in. Two lots of washing are on the line and I've even done last week's ironing at last. Temps are going to hit 30 again later.

Enjoy playing with the puppy @AuntyRach.

Very hot here. Did a mercy dash to the local Sainsbury’s for fresh bread, had the aircon on in the car, and got hit by the heat as we got out. There was a bit of a breeze but that was pretty hot too! Back home inside where it’s cool, OH actually had to put a cardie on. I bought some white cabbage and carrot, and we are having homemade coleslaw with onion, apple and sultanas with our lunch.

Hopefully that’s a relief, Hostafan? Thank goodness they have seen sense and are allowing unlimited access. I’m sure it will benefit the care home too, otherwise they will bear the full brunt of caring and communicating with him. Hope you can organise reading etc to occupy yourself while he is sleeping, plus some edible treats to keep you going. It would be great if there are some nice walks nearby to get some exercise and clear your mind.  Good luck.

That's a better result @Hostafan1, even if it does mean a long drive to see him.
Up in town today, posting letters to residents of the street where the garden market is going to be on Sunday alerting them to the fact that they will need to have their cars off the street by 7am.  And telling them how to park using the RingGo system.  We used to be able to simply pay the local authority for use of the nearest car park all day but they changed it and have a firm of private contractors in now who police all parking very heavily.  And they simply do not return my phone calls.  So the residents will have to pay and we will reimburse.
But it was hot going up and down the street in the blazing sunshine.
Hope you enjoy Southwold @Dovefromabove - and your fish supper!

    That's a better solution @Hostafan1.

Hello all. I didn't have time to post this morning. I had an appointment at my bank in town as one of my savings accounts has matured and done quite well.
The bank wanted to know whether to re-invest or to put the money in my current account. I've decided on the latter so I don't need to worry about any more house improvements, like doing the grouting between the stonework on the outside dining room wall. I wish the plumber would come and fit the new bath.

I had a mooch around town and bought a long sleeved top which I'll leave in Norfolk when I'm next there. Then I went to see F, my friend in the village, she invited me for lunch. We had a good natter and she showed me round her garden.

Wood man came when I got back, he has delivered 6 m3 logs, he is also the English builder. Should last for a bit, but he's dumped them from his tipping trailer where I park my car in the garage so I think I'll stack them neatly around the side. Keep me exercised during the rain which is forecast!

No sunbathing after all @Lizzie27.  Got to 37C and we have an amber storm warning for tonight so I've been out watering pots to make them heavy, moving stuff into shelter, putting away garden chairs and sun beds so they don't take flight.

Possum came down to cut all the good flowers off the dahlias for vases and I followed dead heading and removing non flowering stalks to reduce wind resistance.   Set to be wet tomorrow too so I've picked all the low hanging fruit off the tomatoes ready to start making passata tomorrow when it's cooler and the chooks can go safely into the polytunnel tomorrow as it's set to be stormy for tomorrow morning too.  They've not been allowed in there since I planted the toms and chillies.

I need a plumber too @Busy-Lizzie.  The bathroom's shower door has broken off one of its runners and we have a leak under the kitchen sink.  Of course, these things happen when plumbers and co are on hols so I haven't been able to get hold of him yet.

  • Hello all. Huge hugs for @Hostafan1 🤗 xx

I’ve had a lovely day. It was good to see Bro and SIL … it’s been a long time … and then because of roadworks and long queues on the A12 I went a roundabout way to Southwold and bought some fish and a few goodies.  We've had fresh sardines on toast with salad for supper and. have some pastels de nata for pudding later.
Now my feet are up. All this gadding about can be exhausting 😉
