Morning all, lovely sunny day out there for a change. Was quite good yesterday as well. I managed to cut down the catmint and irises from the back lawn trellis border, decided they are all coming out to give more room and moisture to the roses and clematis there.
Daughter arrived safely so we celebrated with prosecco. We're shortly off to the ancestral village for coffee and cake in the local pub which has recently been done up very nicely. It is where we always held family celebrations in the past but they are fully booked for tonight (the third pub I tried) so we are going in the opposite direction to another small village.
Well, OH left for work on time ... the only thing that didn't get done was that the saucepan he uses to heat up his soup for his lunchtime flask didn't get washed up, so I've done it. Not a huge problem 😂
Now I must get into the studio and work on Sister in Law's little birthday painting/card ... just realised it's her birthday on Wednesday 😲

Morning all, been up ages but phone battery was dead hence late posting. A bit brighter here but still cloudy, waiting for return of the plumber. The new cistern went in OK but the waste pipe still has a leak, even though he fitted a new flexible connection. Luckily it's only had water down it for more than 6 months as we've not been using it.
Afternoon everyone! It will be interesting watching your garden progress towards spring @Pat E while ours on this side of the world are beginning to see the leaves turn and we start thinking about putting the garden to bed. (Not yet though! Please not yet!). Will look in the glove box @Dovefromabove. Here is a pic of a lovely upside down Red Admiral sunning itself on the water butt.
Yes, just started to type and a delivery came, then the cat wanted feeding, then I noticed there were no cupcakes left in the cake tin, and as I had to soften butter for them thought I might as well make a couple of Coffee & walnut cakes before any staff arrived.....then we got busy. Just a normal day at the office.
I have to waitress this evening as we are so short staffed on a Saturday, but I think by the end of the month I will also close most evenings. The weather is so good at the moment though (despite a couple fo showers) and there are a lot of British people over at last, it's a shame to turn them away, it can be a very long winter. I am recruiting now though to get staff well trained over the winter months when we have time to do it properly. It might cost a bit now, but having time to train and filter staff out ready for next spring, to be ready with a good strong team of loyal staff who will hopefully be loyal to me because I have looked after them over winter, when so many other places just shut down and fire them all, well it has to be worth it. I can't possibly work as many hours as I have done this year again next year, I don't want to to start with, it is just too all consuming. I really hope this plan will work out. I can but try.
Regarding bulbs, I have a wishlist on farmer Gracy's website, I do so adore bulbs and am determined to get them in in good time so at least in spring there will be some cheerful blooms to look at when the rest of the garden is bare. I plan to have a carpet of blue in my little hosta patch.
I hope you are all enjoying your day whatever you are doing, catch up later.

We have Agapanthus in large pots. One has not flowered, for 2 years. Finally got it out to divide . I think I might know why it didn't flower now.😄 This is les than a third of the roots!
