    @debs64 I read your post on CC, so sorry to hear about your daughters wedding dress. That must be so upsetting for her and worrying too. If the shop you bought it from said sleeves were easy to adapt, they must have their own seamstress to do it for you, all places like that have someone to make alterations for wedding dresses. Most brides have it shortened or taken in etc. With the lace you have, is there enough to make bolero or sleeved short 'cape'  not the word I'm looking for but hope you know what I mean. Some of the comments on that thread were rather tackless. And every bride is entitled to their dream day however they choose to have it. I do hope something can be sorted for her and that you got some helpful results from where you purchased it.

    @Songbird-1 hope 23 had a lovely birthday.
    @Yviestevie it's my little granddaughters 3rd birthday soon......when I asked her what she wanted, she said a talking balloon!! 🎈😂😂

    Good night everyone, hopefully we'll all get a good night's sleep. Sweet dreams

    Hi all daughters dress problem resolved and everyone happy for now at least. I feel rather drained as I know I worry too much about my daughter being stressed at the moment with her health issues. I agree a few people were tactless because in my opinion people are entitled to spend their own money. Booked my hair appointment so that’s another thing ticked off. New hairdresser but she comes recommended so fingers crossed.
    Car insurance is a rip off I agree and so expensive especially for new young drivers. Fiancé had to have “top up” insurance when his van was new. What’s all that about?
    Work today. Hope everyone has a good day planned.

    Good morning all. Just watched Sarah Storey adding another gold medal to the 14 she already has at the paralympics. Absolutely brilliant!

  • Good morning everyone.   I slept well.  I hope you did.  Lily a talking balloon😂.  Debs I hope your daughter’s dress can be sorted soon.  It’s expected for a bride to need alterations before the day.  I’ve been watching the paralympics which has been in the velodrome this morning.  Time for a cup of tea.

    Hazel, you seem to have had a frantic but fun day yesterday. Bit of a shock to find your nice, warm shower suddenly going stone cold. You are right, we take so much for granted in our lives and it can be a real shock to the system when suddenly we cannot access the most basic of things. Bet your chish and fips were lovely though.

    Top up insurance covers the gap between the actual value of the vehicle should it be written off and the amount of the loan taken out to buy it.   Eg.  You buy a new van for £15,000 using finance.  Once it's driven off the forecourt it's worth a lot less because it's now second hand ... and of course the value goes down because it's being used and miles are put on the clock.  Should it then be in an accident and written off you will only get the money it's worth at the time of the accident, maybe £12,000 or less .. but you'll still owe the finance company what remains unpaid of the £15,000 loan ... so the top up insurance covers that gap.

    And hello all ... lovely sunrise here this morning.  B)

    Morning everyone,
    Sun is shining but there's a chill in the air at the moment.
    @debs64 so pleased your daughter's dress has been sorted.  Sorry to be nosey but, is she managing to have sleeves now or have you chosen a different dress. Hope she's more relaxed now bless her. Such a special day and she's had to postpone too.
    I agree, nobody's business about what you choose or how much you spend. Sending a hug.
    @bluebellsinthewild yes it was so funny 🎈 I asked her mummy if she'd seen a new cartoon series with talking balloons. But no, she had no idea where Poppet2 had come up with that idea 😂  I'm hoping she's forgotten all about it 😉😂😂 Glad you had a better nights sleep.
    Have a good day everyone
