Afties all. Well you know that proverb 'procrastination is the thief of time'? It has been personified in my handy brother! He decided that he did not want to look at bungalows today. We didn't have specific appointments made and were just going to drive passed and get a flavour of the neighbourhoods. I've been through all of this before with him so I cannot say I am all that surprised. Not to worry, I think he may go under his own steam this week. I am glad in a way that we didn't have any fixed appointments having read your post T'Bird - that is gross! How can they hope to sell!
Hazel, you must be finding that new mattress is good having had such a decent sleep. Super tomatoes and I bet they taste delicious.
I came home with intentions of getting into the garden but Marti spotted my arrival and decided to put in an appearance. He is just getting too familiar!
Biglad, I hope that you have had a rest from running round the field duties today and have enjoyed pest hunting in the garden. Have the Shauns spotted your plants yet?

We had coffee with a friend in her garden this morning, the wind got quite chilly and I was cold in a summer dress but then the day got warmer. We went to Peter Beales Roses, OH sat on a bench in the sun in the rose garden, had a snooze, and I searched for a plant for a dry, difficult area under a tree. Bought a Euonymus "Emerald Gaiety' and a Ceratostigma plumbaginoides to go in front of it. Also bought a Gaura "RosyJane" for the long border.

Then we went to a very old pub for a beer in their garden.

Hello Hazel and Ruby. Good news about the mattress Hazel. Ruby, sometimes I wish that I could go to sleep in the afternoon but if I did that I don't think I would be able to sleep at night.

Hello Busy, you snuckered in there. So you returned to Peter Beales then? Resistance is futile when it comes to plants. All the autumn bulb catalogues are starting to drop on my mat now and I'm trying to resist the temptation to pre-book things I want, hoping that they may work out a bit cheaper later on in the season. I want lots more fritillaria meleagris.

@Busy-Lizzie - glad you found the Ceratostigma - don't know why we couldn't find it the other day🙂

You're certainly right that the weather has been a bit funny today. Overcast and quite cool first thing then unforecast rain then sun and heat then cloud, breeze and cool and now it feels warm and humid again.....

Its been a lovely warm sunny day, but got a bit breezy about 5ish.
    Plants sound lovely @Busy-Lizzie

Will say goodnight too. Sleep well everyone.
Hope everyone in the quiet corner are ok.

  • I woke at 3am and made some tea and gave Alfie some food.   He’s really enjoying his food for a sensitive tummy.   Busy I’ll google your plants👌.  Topbird the circumstances in which some people have to live can be dire with lack of maintenance and/or poor health.  LB I do hope your brother finds somewhere he likes and fairly easy to maintain.   I’m trying out some Haven face cream.  Years ago there was a rep in the area, but it’s possibly purely on line these days.   I hope you all managed to sleep.  Alfie’s gone back to sleep.
