That sounds horrific @Topbird. When my mother fell in the night the ambulance was quite quick but the hospital kept her on a trolley in a corridor, which is where she still was when I arrived the next day having driven and ferried from SW France. But at least I was allowed in, some years ago.

OH's niece rang to say she had been with some friends who have been diagnosed with Covid so she isn't coming to stay after all.

@Topbird  I'm so very sorry to hear about your friends mum. That poor lady must have been  frightened and in so much pain. How awful to have to wait 7 hours for an ambulance and then another 12 to be seen by a doctor.  I know nurses and Drs are under a lot of stress etc, but i find that length of time totally unacceptable for a frail old lady to be left for that long. I do hope she is now on the road to recovery and is  being well looked after.

@Chivetalking hope your mum is making good progress. And will be able to come home soon. Take care.
@Yviestevie thinking of you. Take care too.

Will say night night to you all. Sleep well.

  • I was a Girl Guide and we had to carry 4d (old pennies) in the purse on our belts in case we had to use a public phone box, and we knew about Buttons A & B.

  • Hazel sorry to hear of your dad breaking his thigh bone and a lengthy wait for an ambulance.  It must have been very difficult for him.  It’s upsetting to hear that so many have experienced painful accidents and had, as Hazel says, interminable waits for an ambulance.

I woke up, feeling very thirsty, and I’m having the first tea of the day, lovely.  I’m all washed and brushed.  Good morning Mrs B3 Southampton and all to follow.

I remember the old pennies which I received for pocket money and my mum would take me to the shops.  I was very young and I had a book which cost 6d.  No smart phones or WiFi, comics which I loved and I would become very absorbed reading them from cover to cover.  They were hilarious.

    Morning everyone,
I woke up at 6 and have now come down for my first cup of tea. Definitely the best cup of the day ☕🤗
You're an early bird @bluebellsinthewild all washed and ready.
Its rained during the night and looks quite soggy out there this morning. Sky looks slightly brighter, hope the sun arrives this morning. More than half way through August and the summer seems to have disappeared.
    Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning Mrs B3, RosieBB, Ruby and all to arrive later. I slept well until Lily decided that 0i:48 was a good time to have a mad half hour - tearing up and down the stairs and in and out of the bedroom. Why is it that such small creatures can sound like a herd of elephants? I did get back to sleep though,

Its interesting about the old call box telephones with their A and B buttons. After a phone call I always pressed Button B in the optimistic belief I might get a pay out. It never happened.
I hope that Chive's Mum and TBird's OH's Godmother's are comfortable this morning. My Bestie's daughter is seeing the Doctor again today but it seems the new meds have at least made her feel a little better in herself.
p.s. I have a small collection of farthings, halfpennies, pennies and threepenny bits. They look as ancient as Roman coins!
p.p.s. Busy, I'm sorry that your OH's niece is not able to make her visit. She will have been thinking about you both.

  • Rubee I didn’t get back to bed.  I couldn’t nod off, but I’ve had toast and tea.  Lily there was some bright sunshine as soon as light.  LB cats are funny when they’re in mad dash mode.
