    Good morning all 😊 ☕️

Hope everyone’s ok … I’ve done some reading back and am sending hugs where needed 🤗

We got home yesterday afternoon after visiting MIL and getting George’s air con problem sorted. The chap also tweaked a few other little things that we’d not pointed out … eg noisy heater fan … and now he’s happy with what he’s sold me, and we’re very happy too.

It was good to see MIL and OH’s sisters popped round too so lots of catching up done 😊

We called at the local farm shop on the way back and picked up a small piece of gammon to have on Sunday with the first broad beans from the garden. I also grabbed an oxtail and some pieces of beef short rib for the freezer, and sausages which we had for supper in bread rolls with lots of fried onion.

I was extraordinarily tired after driving home … probably a combination of eating white bread at MIL’s  plus driving a couple of hours in surprisingly heavy traffic in what is still a ‘strange’ car … I’m also aware that i need my eyes tested and although I’m sure I’m still legal for driving I think that I’m getting to the stage when some glasses for driving might be an idea 🙄

Morning folks, drizzle, but don't mind, just had two hot days, lots of planting yesterday. Visit with eldest daughter and her best friend went surprisingly well. We went with my friend for coffee at our usual sea front hotel.she was going to take her friend round the shops, her friend lives in a big town, lots of shops, daughter is manager at one of the big 4,hates it. I said go on the beach, they did, recommended beach cafe for lunch, then we all sat in the garden, for tea. Been up a few hours, batch cooking, off to disabled sons. Good luck for Hosta Xx

Morning everyone,  damp start here.  A bit of an odd day yesterday,  only did till 1 pm at Capel ,  hardly anyone else around,  felt I was better off going to my Allotment and working there . So that's what I did. No chance of seeing the supermoon too cloudy last night.

    Morning all,

Decent rain o/night and this morning. At last :)

On the downside, my inability to source the correct sized fitting to connect downpipe to water butt means that I've just had to leave the butt lid off if I want to collect anything :( You'd think that if you bought guttering and a downpipe that fit together from the same source as you bought the water butt, they would also supply a fitting to connect them together :o

The forecast for today has washed out a planned to sister's garden, but I've got loads to do at home instead.

...I thought I bought a 'universal' diverter kit from Wickes (other stores are available - although they may not sell the same kit) years back - square going into circular. You could always then plug the overflow!

Lots of planting done yesterday.  I had two batches of seedlings whose leaves looked very similar so was not sure which was which.  One is Verbascum roripifolium (pale yellow flowers on long airy stems) the other is Francoa sonchifolia 'Pink Giant'.  Now they've grown on a bit I can see that I have lots of Francoa but not many verbascum, which are still v. small.  I shall assume that they won't flower this year and will just need to be potted on until big enough to plant out for next year.
But I'm out of compost - a nip to the GC is in order.  And I'm going to ban myself from buying/sowing any more plants with yellow flowers.  I do like yellow (I know many won't tolerate it in their gardens) but that's enough now.

    Hello all.

It's been raining but I don't mind today as my back aches so gardening isn't on. I have managed to vacuum the house though.

OH went to Morrisons and bought chocolate cookies for elevenses and Eccles cakes for tea. I'm going to end up as fat as butter at this rate. Did I say he bought cream doughnuts from Sainsburys yesterday?

I'll keep looking @steveTu. I enquired at the large, nationwide DIY and home improvement retailer but their staff seemed a bit clueless. Otherwise, it will have to be a bit of a botch job :o

Oooh ... it's years since I've had a doughnut (honestly) although I prefer jam ones.  I don't think I've had once since I retired (manager used to send out for some when we were having a particularly tough day) ... I might have to put them on OH's list for tomorrow ... he's popping to Wrose for mozzarella ... tomorrow is Pizza Day
