@Eustace ... it's pleasant, there is some but it's not swoonworthy.. I didn't expect it to be so that's ok.. of more concern to me is how long each bloom lasts on the bush, if they disintegrate quickly, that will be an issue..
'Chianti'.. an old David Austin rose.. superb scent, June flowering..
'Westerland' as a shrub.. 'Constance Spry'... the first DA rose.. grown on a pillar.. 'Blairi No. 2'.. an old Bourbon rose, with a superb scent,... June flowering..
It was all going so well with my 'Chianti' also Marlorena...until the rain arrived. Much better supports needed for next year I think. I've still got 2-3 buds from Constance at the side to open yet though.
.hopefully that will get better in time, but the weather is not so great right now.. .. disappointing for late June..
...climbing Floribundas should be used more often, 'Armada' and 'Wild Rover' are two mainstays of my garden and I couldn't be without them 'Wild Rover' on the arch.. ...never short of basals.. 'Marie Nabonnand'.. always in flower.. Pebble Beach, .. seeded Lychnis and Scabious.. 'Perfecta Blue'... Anthemis 'Tinpenny Sparkle' is my find of the season..
Salvia gregii 'Blue Note'... a graceful plant with good colour.. Rhododendron 'Bloombux' is loved by bees... 'Special Brother' [Amethyst Star] is my favourite of the blue-y roses... for many reasons.. this is a young plant.. much better 2nd year.. 'Crazy In Love'.. another fine scented white rose... 'Nye Bevan'... ...produces large clusters per stem.. like a floribunda..
Geranium pratense... along the Dry River Bed.. Wild Rover and Armada in the distance. Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Inverleith.. I like this area of the garden and let it overgrow somewhat.. Penstemon 'Westminster Belle'... Lavender 'Hidcote'.. / Griselinia 'Bantry Bay'.. Achnatherum calamagrostis in the north bed Dry Garden..
Geranium 'Patricia'... 'Mme. Letuve de Colnet'... 'Gruss an Aachen'... 'Mutabilis' almost halfway up the fence, doing really well now, for height and spread...
..the love of foliage, and thorns.. sometimes.. these are quite something.. 'Mme. Antoine Mari'...
Hypericum moserianum... C. 'Belle of Woking'... Anthemis 'E.C. Buxton'... Geranium 'Russell Prichard'... I have a few Phlox.. the first one is 'Sweet Summer Purple Bicolour'...
