.. I meant to add, if you want a rose similar to that but a whole lot better, consider 'The Lady's Blush' from David Austin roses.. it also has that red ring at the base, larger flowers produced continuously on a much healthier plant.. excellent disease resistance..
@peteS ..ha..! this is rather funny... I've repeated your picture above with a quote from myself advising you to get 'The Lady's Blush' as it's similar... there is no way I would have said your rose is 'The Lady's Blush' because it only has 5 petals, and TLB is a semi double.. ..either it's not correct or it's a very poor undernourished specimen of TLB.. to me it doesn't look like the same rose. There are better photos on the DA website to compare.
..here's The Lady's Blush when I had it.. it was a very healthy rose too with good foliage.. nothing like the above..
..sorry about the pollen beetles in one of my pictures.. and I admit I do like the little flowers on the park rose, they have a nice colour, but you can see why I could not tell that was TLB..
You're quite right, it's definitely not the same rose, but TLB isn't a bad alternative...Oh well, it will be forever a mystery. Your obelisk with 'Armada' and the clematis on is quite stunning, perfect colour combo. Am I right in thinking Armada can't be bought in this country.
@peteS ..probably not Pete... Peter Beales used to sell it, and Harkness Roses as it was one of theirs, but probably dropped by both now..
@Camelliad .. yes full sun or light shade, I have it in both... I've also grown the other colours, one called 'Rebel' which is dark red/orange and 'Scarlet' which is similar, more orange/red.. ... I think I like Salmon Beauty best, although 'Rebel' is a favourite too because I love the strong colours.. I have that elsewhere but it's only just started flowering, so I'll post a pic another time.. ..easy from seed... they need pinching out when growing, otherwise they get lanky too quickly.. ..they're tender perennials, best grown as annuals... I hope you give them a try..
I must show you this Marlorena...I've waited about 4-5 years for 'Graham Thomas' climber to really take off, and this year I think it officially has. Long canes of stunning blooms, miniscule BS, and as a lucky bonus I think it blends perfectly with 'Open Arms'.

.. although my 'Armada' obelisk is going full pelt right now, and I'm always thrilled with this rose..
