Thanks Marlorena for your recommendations. Actually Dower House and Wollerton Old Hall are both very close to DA garden - all three are in Shropshire. Given I will be visiting DA garden next Friday I’m most tempted to visit all three in one swoop! Is there such a thing as death by drowning in rose fragrance I wonder.. I’m determined to find out 😛
An A41 conveyor belt ride for you I think, if you have the time...
WOH, stunning place, my favourite garden, you can just get lost in the perfection of the garden rooms. You'll need at least a half day there.
Just another day at the plant...

.. I don't know that one off hand... I'll see if I can find out... bit diseased though isn't it?  that wouldn't last long here..  pretty blooms, I like the red ring in the centre.. but not one I know immediately..

.. I meant to add, if you want a rose similar to that but a whole lot better, consider 'The Lady's Blush' from David Austin roses.. it also has that red ring at the base, larger flowers produced continuously on a much healthier plant.. excellent disease resistance..

Yes it is diseased, but given a bit more tlc than the council tend to give their plants, maybe that can be reduced somewhat. But the flowers are lovely aren't they, remarkably so considering the state of the soil it was growing in.
  • Looks beautiful @Marlorena. I suspect what your neighbour means is that it requires more green-fingered aptitude ( and time investment) to keep that density of planting looking as good as you make it look  than what s/he is willing or able to do!

I keep saying the same thing, but your garden really is so beautiful, what a gorgeous view to look out on every :) day.

    That's a really nice view.
Re coping, I guess it is relative... I couldn't cope with my neighbor's lawn - no weeds, almost no moss, very short and mown regularly, and even watered when it gets too dry :)

..thanks so much.. it's really a small area in the photos, about 35' x 15'... but it is labour intensive, so you do need to be reasonably fit to garden this way don't you? otherwise I'd just have bedding plants which is what most of them do around here..
