Its nice to see all the roses starting to bud and bloom. My LoS has come on leaps and bounds over the last month height wise (probably all that rain and semi warm temperatures) but shows no sign of buds yet.
Some of the leaves need to be removed due to damage from the wind / weather but its looking heathy.
My Azalea is looking stunning in pink though and has really come into bloom the last couple of days!
I have a rose that is robust and don’t know the name of. Wonder if anyone knows it. I guessed it was a floribundas but haven’t got any further. It is a bit darker later I. The summer and flowers for a lot of the summer.
@Cambridgerose12 .. Morletti is worth looking at from any direction.. lovely unusual rose..
@celcius_kkw yours are ahead of mine just about Adrian... nice to see you with some roses after the weather disasters..
.. I'll be starting another thread shortly, hope you'll have a look in if you have the time.. I take too many pics ..
@Nollie ..this is why I've almost given up on Tantau's.. weather resistance was not great.. I think their roses are petal packed, very tight, and don't always open properly.. just an observation from the few I had..
'Queen of Denmark'.. untypical first bloom, should be more petals.. wonderful fragrance though..
@Littlegarden ..sorry I don't know your rose.. too many reds.. would need to know where it was bought, from whom, and when, might help a little..
@fromtheshires .. pretty Azalea, I like those... hope your rose starts blooming soon..
@Desi_in_London what's your Lavender called? I've got one but a different colour..
@Mr. Vine Eye Your roses will astonish us all very shortly.. looking forward to those very much...
@Eustace .. nice to see Golden Showers, not one we see so often these days... I used to have it..
@celcius_kkw I've not been to DA's garden but I've seen the videos... my favourite, or one, is Mannington, Norfolk and I'm going there at the end of June... it's not an Austin garden though, mostly Old Roses and ramblers.. there are many lovely rose gardens some only open occasionally.. DA's is very concentrated I think.. I'll try make a list up sometime ..
@Marlorena its a dwarf lavandula stoechas , ( i think its 'Anouk' but as it is from a diy/general home/garden place not a nursery I wouldn't be 100% sure of accuracy there ) -- I bought a few allegedly angustifolia hidcote from them and that is looking like more like some kind of hybrid so far )
@Marlorena, very interesting behaviour from QoD--I've only occasionally seen a flower that looks like this, especially in the colour which is darker than usual. It must be the cool weather (or is it a new plant?). Often, too, they don't form such large clusters of buds. Mine's still a week or two away from flowering. It is poorly sited but I have no intention of moving it or giving it up
@celcius_kkw I would say 1.5-2 weeks to get some roses (there were some big fat buds only waiting for warmer weather) while still seeing the laburnum arch and rhododendrons in bloom. Or 3-4 weeks for the peak rose blooming time.
@Marlorena Ooh yes! Would your nee thread be a collection of your garden’s photos? I’ve missed that actually - I look forward to seeing all the pics - there can never be too many photos!
I like DA’s garden mainly because it’s jam packed with roses.. all in one place. I suppose I don’t pay too much attention to garden designs and layouts that much.. and then there’s the garden centre part where there is every single variety of DA Rose for sale.. very dangerous territory for someone like me who has not got anymore space..
I took more photos of my Desdemona today and my Etoile de Hollande has bloomed - despite all the storm disaster.. it smells most wonderful!
