    .. I think you were asking about an i.d. for a Moss rose?   I've not grown it but I would guess that's 'Laneii' [Lane's Moss], one of the few crimson Moss roses.. the buds, moss and foliage seems to conform to that rose..
    ..the most common crimson Moss is 'Henri Martin' which I've grown.. it doesn't remind me of that one but it would be good to see more blooms really..  how large is your plant? and does it have a strong scent?..

    @Fire it smells like raspberries and sugar cookies! :)  and looks like it indeed may be the same based on description! They are giants <3
    Although on photos it all looks so even, mine had never been even red , always has this transition from black to red… so maybe there’s some slight alteration mixed in. Definitely same shape without question !

    Does MP start black too?

    Hi everyone
    Your expert advice please! I have Etoile de Hollande and New Dawn on my north facing wall. I didn’t fully appreciate how vigorous Etoile would be and was hoping the north facing situation would somewhat tame her growth. However, I seem to get more new canes than flowers. It is in its third summer and I used to chop the new growth as it goes well over the 6 foot brick wall behind and I can’t tie them all in. I know many of you grow this rose and one person in his balcony but I feel I cannot keep on top of it. Do you all keep new canes or cut them back? What would your advice be? I am seriously thinking of digging it out this autumn and replace it with something less vigorous.
    Many thanks!

    @Malorena Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I think it probably is Laneii. It is scented and currently about 3 feet tall. As I said I did a bit of clearing in a border over the winter and now it's decided to pop up

    I absolutely love your pots @Tack. Where do you get them from?

    Hi @Katsa I hope all is well with you. I get them wherever I can , cheapest. But they are from Elho on the continent and fewer UK stockists this year. Most recently from here but the prices have increased. https://www.bloomling.uk/elho/vibia-straight-round-47-cm?sai=13525 I do really like them as they are light with not much taper and no rim so the capacity is high for the footprint and I think garden pots is a great use for recycled plastic.

    Thanks @Tack - I wondered if they were Ehlo pots!

    Goodmorning RosaPhiles - I'm ordering my friend a rose from Styles as a Birthday gift ("Wonderful Friend"), and I may as well order myself a red climber I want whilst im at it... I was going to go for Etoile, but Styles (who I use often) have some really lovely ones Id be just as happy with - anyone tried "Highgrove", "Crimson Cascade" or "Red Eden Rose"? Particularly attracted to Highgrove.

    Hello @Shenny and welcome, look forward to seeing more of your roses 😊

    @Sammymummy..

     Hmm, yes you have chosen two very vigorous roses! You are not supposed to cut back the main canes, the ones growing from or near the base, that you have trained along the wires. Most of that growth on your EdeH (and ND) are flowering laterals, the side shoots growing straight up from the main canes, those you can cut down to about 6” after flowering. I guess the laterals are growing so tall because they are reaching for the light? Could you install another wire at the top of the wall above EdeH? You can then select and train a couple of suitable long laterals along the new wire, so they, in effect, become main canes that will then grow their own laterals, and prune back the rest. However, if it’s just too much for you/the space, maybe it would be best to replace it with something more mannerly. @Fire has EdeH and a couple of other red climbers and might be able to suggest an alternative if you do get rid - Crimson Glory??

    If you decide to manage EdeH, @Mr. Vine Eye had a really good diagram of how to control and train climbers and I think, turn laterals into main canes, would you mind posting that again Mr. V? Please feel free to correct any of the above, you grow and train more climbers than me!
