@Bright star - yes The Prince is an old, discontinued Austin, still available in Europe but increasingly difficult to find in the UK, I believe.
@Marlorena, it has thrown up two long 4ft canes, I had a feeling it might want to climb here, could be the position against a wall encouraging it, might have to install wires and train it as such. @edhelka I believe yours is in open ground and more shrubby? Full bush shot and a closeup of of that bloom coming out a vivid pink, such a colour chameleon depending on the temperature:
Talking of strong necks, the bud on the left is Pure Poetry and the others are Heidi Klum. Two Tantau roses, they share a certain distinctive look, although the blooms are rather different when opened. PP was very weak-necked last year, but so was The Prince!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I've seen her mentioned on the rose threads, but, overall, how do people find Susan William Ellis? I believe she is quite disease resistant.... Your experiences would be great to hear.
Thanks, yes it’s all taking off now @Marlorena, but no The Prince is getting no special treatment, although we have had some heat, and rain, so that helps with everything. A few more...

@Fire I think it’s fair to say the jury is out on Susan Williams-Ellis. Some find it a really good doer and very charming. I dislike the fact the blooms shatter so easily and quickly and that the fragrance is nothing special. I think there are better small whites personally, am already seriously impressed with Marie Pavie in it’s first year, compact, very floriferous, holds onto it’s blooms well and much better fragrance.

@Nollie I moved it to a pot, it is now in a sheltered spot against the house wall in the back garden. It is actually a very similar shape to yours, just half the size (or even less).
I went out to take a photo (and took some more when there).
