@cooldoc I didn’t know that autumn sown sweet peas would flower so much earlier! I think I will sow them in autumn this year too.
My Eustacia Vye has finally produced its first bloom (planted bare foot in November)
I’ve been roped in to do some extra hours this week due to staff shortage so I promise myself I shall leave work early tomorrow to spend some time with my roses..!
@peteS It depends on how do you want to grow the rose (how tall do you want to keep her). But you won't be able to keep her small. Assuming you want to keep her as a shrub, I would leave it as it is now and shorten it when deadheading. I would say it is better to wait for more canes like that (aiming for the height of the rose around 5ft) rather than chopping every nice cane to whatever the rest of the bush is now.
Eustacia Vye showing true colours when fully opened.. similar to most other roses with their first blooms being huge with a strong scent...
Munstead Wood.. November bare root purchase..
Scentimental...
Not sure if you can see all the roses.. Focal feature is Nepeta 6 hills giant (Bee magnet).. barely visible blooms/buds of Eyes for you, Rosengrafin Marie Henriette, Munstead wood, Eustacia Vye, Desdemona, Gabriel Oak (in clockwise order from left lower)...
Cheers for that @edhelka...I didn't realise the true height of her was 5ft. DA's blurb says 3.5ft. In that case I'll wait and see what develops. I did notice recently there is a climbing version. Is this a true climber, climbing from the off, or does it grow as a shrub for ages, then takes off. I bought Graham Thomas as a climber a number of years ago, but that lingered as a shrub for 3 years or so before it must have realised it should be a climber and took off.
My rose of the day is Benjamin Britten, too bright for photo outside. Very strong growing plant, I like it more as part of my cut flower posy to give a shocking colour and not really in border but it is too vigorous to be in pot so stays in border.
Other roses Gertrude Jekyll and Munstead wood smelling great. My posy at desk with Princess Alexandra of Kent, GJ and Tess of D.

I've often looked at SWE as I don't have many whites @Pianoplayer , yours look really smart.
.. have you noticed how we all get different colours on Eustacia Vye? sometimes I wouldn't know it's the same rose..
.. @cooldoc
.when that Scentimental opens fully, can you let me know what the scent is like please? thanks..
