Thanks @edhelka and @Eustace .. I think I'm fairly confident it isn't VW as i do have an ongoing battle with that in the front and those bite marks are less even ( although their residence of choice seems to be the cherry laurel hedge rather than the roses so far.. makes the hedge look v ugly at times but doesn't quite kill it enough to warrant the blood sweat and tears involved in getting rid of it). I do use nematodes periodically , so perhaps time to get another batch in. edit - "hedge" is in effect a giant sunk container (maybe 60 cm wide and deep and 2 metres long) cut into a patio type thing above a basement room ... so i guess the VW thinks of it as a pot, am aware it would be a lot easier to manage if was ground, sadly not an option.
Kindness is always the right choice.

If anyone is still wondering what rose saw fly buggers look like - this is they. Or ex-larvae, I should say. They seem to target my healthiest, most robust two roses.

@edhelka You have a beautiful garden and I'm sure you are very proud of it. The video was excellent and your cat made its debut.  :)

So many beautiful roses, so much inspiration... a truly fabulous thread...

A quick question for any Blush Noisette owners out there... do you dead-head the individual flowers or the clusters...? I think someone on here once mentioned they look like used toilet paper once they went over, and I can't unsee that description now...!

Also, @dominia30 I love the colour of my new Gabriel Oak!

@edhelka I've been round your lovely garden twice now, first concentrating on the roses next time on the other plants. i would have been happy for you to linger 3 times as long on everything. I think you have a great view from your greenhouse, I can imagine many a happy hour in there keeping warm but being in the garden. I do admire the Fern Walk and have thought where I could have one.... Thanks for sharing.

@edhelka - loved the video! Would have missed it if not for spotting comments from the last page mentioning it.

I thought @Tack  was just being creepy at first talking about going around your garden 😂

We did 16 pots of sweetcorn and only two grew! Not even worth planting as they won’t pollinate. It’s been a rubbish year for growing veg at the plot. With us starting late and then the weird weather we’ve not got much growing.
