I don't know the name of this HT rose as I have lost its label. It is on its 4th flush this season. Some of the blooms get spoilt by the rain, still a reliable one.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Some lovely photos! I was wondering, I usually get roses cheaper in the off-season, but I just got some birthday money from my mum and was contemplating another DA. Is there any point buying a potted rose now e.g. will I likely get decent blooms, or should I just hold on till Nov to get cheap (well hardly cheap lol) bare-rooted? Also, does anyone have a current discount code please?
@pandakoalagirl49lS9c8QR_ I’d only buy potted now if on sale, which several places have going on right now but none that I know of are DA. I’m not sure if DA have a discount code now or coming up, maybe someone else knows?
By the way, are TCL sending DA to the U.K.? Can’t recall the current status on that.
Rainy here but the cool which tends to bring out richer colours. Here is Princess Alexandra of Kent:
Fab pictures everyone, wish my garden was still looking summery, been distinctly autumnal for a few weeks now, soggy too and roses only intermittently flowering and quickly getting demolished in the rain. I'm going to try a bit of new rose prep tomorrow if it dries up a tad.
Great video @Fire , love the contrast of Barkarole against the black on the shed/summerhouse and all the cottagey style planting. Lovely stuff.
@Omori, TCL told me at end of June they 'are not allowed anymore to send David Austin roses to UK'.
Rose of the day Versigney, I am happy with this rose. Reasonably healthy, keeps flowering and I like the colour.
Other roses - Love song (happy with this too, the other purple rose I had bought was novalis but that couldnt stand even a drop of rain, so gone now. This one is good and I like it. ) - Abraham Darby ( I can see why it has so many fans despite having health issues. ) - Augusta Lousie ( blackspotted, still flowering, I dont mind in a pot. Wont plant it in border) - The Ancient Mariner (Doesnt flower for me much, didnt even grow much last year, this year doing better. I dont blame it, it is in shade, very close to mature apple tree)
And finally my hydrangea, has been in flower for a weeks. It brightens up a shaded corner. I like its leaves, i like its flowers, I even like the dry flowerheads over winter.
I do like the long, weeping racemes of flowers that Malvern Hills has produced in the last few weeks. Very Wisteria like.
Royal Jubilee quite a few flowers on and new buds. It’s not given a big full flush this year. No point where I’ve been able to take a photo of it full of flower. Lots of flowers, it’s just they’ve not all opened at the same time, even with the first ones in June.
