Morning all, Yet another cold and wet one here this morning, I guess things are at least a couple of weeks behind this year. This was my unknown yellow flori on 25 May last year, it's first bloom was on 08 May. and 10 mins ago.
Lots of fat buds on it waiting for some decent weather, it is now the only rose I have in the front garden, and is destined to be relocated into my new rose bed at the end of this year as I need the space it is in to widen the drive
My newly planted bare roots doing well. GdeF & Roald Dahl, plus annual sweet pea and Cobea climbers for some colour on the trellis this year hopefully Lichfield Angel & Vanessa Bell All seem to be leafing up nicely, but they have all been infested with aphids this last week or so. Sprayed them off with washing up liquid solution a couple of times and they now seem better. Hopefully not too much damage to new foliage
You have some lovely dark coloured roses @Nollie. I'll be looking for a couple of dark pink / magenta / purples to add to this border later this year Here now are my Nov bare roots, Generous Gardener foreground & Falstaff behind and to the right a cutting from an unknown pink about the same shade as the lighter Rhodi in the background
I feel like I’m living in a parallel universe having read about all the strong winds that many parts of the country are experiencing.. it’s wet here in the NW but so far (touch wood) there has not been any strong wind.. up to 7 this morning anyway as I left for work. Who knows maybe I’ll cry when I get home..
For once my balcony seems to have escaped some gale force wind..
We're still having gusty winds; tomorrow's weather prediction says temperatures around 4 degrees C. I see quite a few new shoots that are broken and hanging beside the main stem. Should I remove them when the weather has improved or leave them as it is? TIA.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
