Lovely garden photos everyone. So many different roses have come to bloom.
My rose of the day is fragrant cloud. Such a big bold rose with nice fragrance. My shrub is pretty small, it is one of the fox's fav to dig and throw. I am glad it has survived.
Other roses Chandos beauty, Thomas a Becket, strawberry hill, William Shakespeare 2000.
Thank you.. Mine is still small and has a lamp post next to her if she needs support.. What about Felicia..? she is big too? I heard both are more or less similar in size..
I have spent ages this evening supporting heavy rose branches in anticipation of the storms. We need the rain but hopefully not too much damage to the climbers poised before their flushes. The Generous Gardener

Strawberry HillAs expected I kept ordering this colour without considering what was already bought... Timeless Purple, Chartreuse de Parme, England's Rose and Carmen Wurth (there are still more!)Photographed hoping they will still be standing tomorrow Odyssey, WOH, Boscobel, Chandos B.But my favourite opened today, Dames de Chenonceau. Strong fruity raspberry sherbet scent and an even shrub shape
I noticed a good number of these hairy black caterpillars hanging out on the buds. I've not seen these before in the garden - I get a lot of aphids, which I leave for the ladybirds, and have had sawfly larvae, which get SQUASHED, but these are a new one on me. A quick google suggests possibly budworm. Which doesn't sound good...
Can anyone definitively identify this chap?
I don't know, but not sawfly, I think. Budworm is not hairy. Gypsy moth perhaps? Not sure.
You were absolutely right - now they’re bigger the red/blue spots are unmistakeable. Thank you!
