@Rickyjones24 the foliage of Silas Marner looks lovely, very crisp and clean, I like a pointed leaf!
@Tack, I’ve mostly noticed nascent buds hiding in the upper leaf axils of cluster-flowering tea and polyantha roses, after I thought they were done and after I snipped them off, so just check before you snip. BTW, I got Arthur de Sansal too, but it was shovel pruned before I got it into the ground - I was taking a chance as I knew it was prone to mildew, but it was an absolutely horrendous white furry mess and didn’t shake it off.
@newbie77 I meant to say my potted roses sound like yours (with the exception of Marie Pavie). They’re never the exuberant bloom display like others pictured. They have miracle-gro granules and I also feed them half-strength liquid feed weekly. I think they are not getting enough sun as they are mostly up against the east wall of my house - in an attempt to shield them from too much fierce sun. I suspect they are not actually getting enough sun as a result. I’m going to try moving them about a bit to see if that helps.
Will try and remember to watch edhelka’s video tomorrow morning, when the internet is better 😊
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Omori@Marlorena Thank you. The cat is showing her crazy side she's still very playful. It's a fairly busy and wild garden, I often find it hard to take photos of some areas (like the rose bed) because the background is too busy and it just doesn't work in a photo, details are much easier. I think a video can show the atmosphere of the garden and the greater picture much better, although it also shows all the messy corners, weeds and similar things And yes, a lot of things going on, veggies and similar, but I think this year won't be any good for that. I am trying sweetcorn for the first time and there's probably no chance of getting any crop in a year like this.
All you photos look beautiful. My roses are in full swing now, but I'm a bit worried about a couple. My Clementina Carbonieri is still looking very sad. The buds are drooping and foliage has funny dark spots on it. I wonder if it's the potting mix it's in? It's a mix of John Innes No. 2, manure and grit. I have some other gardeners' compost which I could add if it may help perk the rose up? It's had time to settle in now and the other rose I planted at the same time is very happy. It was was potted in gardeners compost + grit + manure.
I'm loving the colour of LEH and Belle de Jour (which is extremely pink compared to what it ought to be?!)
Boscobel has been teasing me for the last week growing buds and more buds, but never quite blooming.
... actually, looking at belle de jour and boscobel - I wonder if they mislabelled them as the flowers look VERY similar!!
Desdemona finally bloomed! As has Roald Dahl, but I think one of the transplanted RDs isn't going to bloom this year and mainly focus on putting down roots. Which is fine.
I've also cut some blooms to enjoy from my desk
And then here are some other varieties that are starting to put on a show:
English Miss
Vanessa Bell, Gruss an Aachen and Aphrodite. Lovely Perfuma is just peeping through.
Young Lycidas. The leaves are very small - is that a sign of lack of water?
... and then finally... Rambling Rector and Ghislaine de Feligonde
And Generous Gardener
And Raymond Blanc, with a Japanese maple behind. Lots of buds yet to open!
Proper Job still looks extremely sorry for itself, so I'm going to shovel prune it, and treat myself to another peony in its place. I have Duchesse de Nemours, Karl Rosenfeld and Shirley Temple, so any recommendations for alternatives would be gratefully received.
Right, off to feed and water the front beds. Managed the back beds last night but ran out of energy!
@Desi_in_London I suggest you take a look at the rose in the evenings just to ensure that it is not the dreaded VW. I have had VW infestation on potted roses.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
@dominia30 I think Princess Anne is relatively uprigh when mature but not in the first years. What Nollie said makes sense, maybe a modern hybrid tea would be better for you. @Desi_in_London It looks like a very typical leaf cutter bee damage to me.

Olivia RA still going strong for ages through the rain and whatever is thrown at her:

This one is called - summer sun.
( I'll get it planted in the garden tonight)
